The Great American Con Job and the “Trojan Horse Bill”

The Great American Con Job and the “Trojan Horse Bill”

By: J. D. Longstreet

*************************
As I thought about a title for this commentary one continued to crash through into my “consciousness.” It was/is the title you see above. Nothing else would describe, in a few words, what I had on my mind.

A “Con Job” is a confidence game. It is, in fact, a heist (a theft) pulled off by first gaining the confidence of the “Mark”. The ”Mark” is the person or entity, which is the target of the heist. The Mark has something the con artist desires to steal. Understand that a con job is, more often than not, a flat-out robbery.

As I watch, read, and listen to, and about, the Obama Administration’s confidence game, being run on the American people, it infuriates me! It also saddens me. Why sad? Because I truly thought the American people had better sense than to elect a man who was so obviously NOT who he said he was. But, I was wrong!

We have said the election of Obama was a victory for American ignorance. I still believe that and as each day passes, I am being proven correct.

As the Obama Administration races to the Left into the waiting embrace of pure, raw, socialism we Americans find that we are no longer in control of our government. 53% of the American electorate simply did away with America as a democracy and replaced it with a Socialist Central Government.

As Obama goes about the country, scaring the living daylights out of the less intelligent Americans among us, he is pushing the so-called “Stimulus Bill.” It is a TROJAN HORSE BILL! Because hidden inside Obama’s Trojan Horse Bill are a number of items, which will take, more and more of our freedom away. There are additional programs intended to insure that more and more Americans find they must depend upon the government ... just to survive.

Hidden deep inside the Trojan Horse Bill are programs that will prepare the way for Universal Insurance coverage and worse. Betsy McCaughey has written a piece for Bloomberg.com titled: “Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan.” In it she says: “The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions. … Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties.”

You need to read this article in its entirety. You’ll find it
HERE.

So we have a “clearing house” set up by the federal government for treatment(s) prescribed by YOUR doctor for YOU! The doctor diagnoses your problem and decides upon a plan of action to treat whatever ails you, but then… he must get clearance from the federal government, from the office of the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, BEFORE he can go forward with that treatment. H.I.T. might decide there is a less expensive way to treat you than the way your doctor has chosen. Such things as your age will weigh into H.I.T.’s decision as to whether to treat you at all. If your life expectance is somewhat short, why waste the taxpayer’s money? Just let Nature take its course. Of course, that might lead to your death, but hey, it is saving the taxpayer’s money… right?

There is so much more in the Trojan Horse Bill that you and I will never see, and never hear about, before it is passed into law. THAT is the REAL reason for the haste with which it is being rammed through the Congress. If they don’t move quickly, we MIGHT learn what is in it!

The people of America ought to be hanging their heads in utter shame at having elected Obama to the Presidency and bestowing power over the daily lives of the people of this country to that merry band of socialist rogues who now populate what used to be OUR Congress!

You know, nothing is so stupid looking as a stupid person so arrogant he thinks he is the smartest person in the room. We’ve all seen it. That is the image the American people are portraying to the rest of the world today.

We are so stupid we lost control of our government. We are so dumb, we have lost our country, and we are so arrogant we actually believe we are doing the right thing by trading democracy for socialism.

So, what’s next? That’s an easy question to answer. The break-up of the country is “what’s next”! It cannot be avoided.

America is split right down the middle and we all know that a nation divided cannot stand. The United States of America might still exist but it will not be a 50 state entity.

As things continue to worsen in America, over the next few years, remind yourselves that we… yes… WE Americans did this to ourselves! As the last pockets of democracy are squeezed to death by the avalanche off socialism just remember… we did it to ourselves. As states begin to reassert themselves and declare their independence from the US… remember, we did it to ourselves.

When the final chapter is written about the death of America the writers of the history books should be sure it states the cause of death as… suicide.

Stupid Answers to Serious Issues ... by Alan Caruba

Stupid Answers to Serious Issues
By Alan Caruba

************************

On “Jeopardy”, the popular quiz show, they have a category called “Stupid Answers” in which the answer is so obvious, posed in the question, that it is virtually impossible to get it wrong.

Unfortunately, we are afflicted by too many stupid answers to very real issues and needs, the most fundamental of which is energy. At the very heart of our society and economy is the dependence upon and need for uninterrupted and increased energy, primarily electricity.

The answers we have been hearing are the worst possible. Over and over again we are told that the U.S. must become more dependent on “alternative, clean” energy, meaning solar and wind energy. These represent about 1% of all the energy the nation consumes at present. Neither comes close to the energy produced by coal which represents over 50% of all the electricity we consume daily. Nuclear produces an additional 20%.

The utility that serves much of New Jersey, my home State, Public Service Electric & Gas recently ran an advertisement headlined “Caution: Blackouts Ahead…” The ad said that “The experts responsible for maintaining reliability on our electric grid flatly predict that we are risking catastrophic power outages in New Jersey if we don’t upgrade our system.”

In the great national debate about the nation’s infrastructure, perhaps no other issue is of more importance, other than the way electricity is produced, than the way it is delivered. Those power lines are the very heart of the way our nation functions. PSE&G is ready to spend $750 million to upgrade its part of the grid, estimated to begin suffering overloads in 2012. Opposing those upgrades is a phalanx of environmental organizations and a regulatory approval process that borders on the insane.

In the meantime, the cost of solar energy credits in New Jersey has jumped to as much as $675 a megawatt-hour for 2009. The credits are paid to solar developers for the energy they produce over a year. The purpose is to boost solar energy production despite the fact that it is the least efficient and most costly way of providing electricity.
Take away the credits and the utilities could spend that money on expanding existing coal-fired and nuclear plant production. This is the classic stupid answer to a real need.

Within the energy industry, all of this is well known. Last August, writing for a leading website devoted to the industry, EnergyPlus.Net, Joseph Welch, the CEO of ITC Holdings Corporation, wrote that “the probability of a second devastating blackout is very likely”, recalling one that five years ago left 50 million Americans in the northeast and Midwest without electricity in the largest blackout in North American history.

A partial, but stupid answer was provided by the 2005 Energy Act requiring reliability standards for the transmission grid, while at the same time dispensing federal largess to solar, wind, biofuel, thermal, and other forms of energy of dubious value. In the meantime, as Welch points out, the growing energy demand “is expected to increase 30% by 2030.

The Obama administration’s energy advisors, cabinet secretaries, and others, including the President, are all on record as opposing coal-fired electricity generation. Many of the nation’s governors remain opposed to coal-fired plants. And America is home to the greatest deposits of coal to be found anywhere in the world!

Yet another stupid answer is the idiotic notion that we can “conserve” our way to energy independence. The prospect of a ban on the sale of incandescent light bulbs as a means to conserve electricity is as idiotic as it gets. Fluorescent bulbs all contain mercury and will require a Hazmat team to clean up the mess if you break one.

As my friend, Michael J. Economides, an editor of EnergyTribune.com, pointed out in mid-2008, “Energy cannot be generated from nothing”, adding that “The next four decades are good for a dozen recessions if it’s business as usual, or for a constant downturn, if American politicos actually apply what they have been saying.”

The smart answers to America’s energy needs include opening oil drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Reserve, on the nation’s vast continental offshore areas estimated to contain billions of barrels plus vast natural gas reserves. The smart answer is to begin yesterday to upgrade and expand our electrical grid system. The smart answer is to encourage the mining of our nation’s coal reserves. The smart answer is to build more coal-fired and nuclear plants.

Who opposes this? The Sierra Club, Friends of the Earth, and the Environmental Defense Fund, to name just three organizations dedicated to destroying the nation’s economy and its ability to provide energy to its people. Who opposes this? Ask the new Secretaries of Energy, the Interior, and the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency.

The next time one of these people, including the President of the United States of America, claims that global warming requires that we all freeze in the dark, impeachment proceedings should begin immediately.

It Is Now OBAMA’S WAR… And The Dems Are Frightened!

It Is Now OBAMA’S WAR… And The Dems Are Frightened!

We have said many times that liberals do not understand the military. We have said they do not understand the application of military force and they surely do not understand when to use it, as a threat, and when to actually apply that force.

It has been said that if America has a distinct “Warrior Class” it is the southern male. There was a time when I actually had doubts about that, but as I watch the Senators and Congresspersons from New England continually decry every military effort the US undertakes and immediately begin looking for an “Exit” plan… I have come to believe that whoever said that… about the southern male being America’s warriors… was right on.

Obama has undertaken to go for victory in Afghanistan and drop Iraq like a hot potato. Of course, that is a mistake, but, hey, if he is determined to make himself look even more foolish, then who am I to stand it his way? I mean, the war in Iraq was won, long ago. It is the peace we have had a problem managing. Let’s face it: “nation building” is NOT our strong suit. I am flat out against it. I am from the old school, which believes that you invade and conquer a nation, and then you leave. The rebuilding of that nation is a part of the punishment you visit upon your enemies as the conqueror.

Back to the first paragraph above: Every first year cadet at VMI or The Citadel knows you never threaten a military strike unless you are serious and fully intend to carry out that strike. It is acceptable to rattle your sabres in plain sight of the enemy, but never tell the enemy you are going to strike if you don’t mean it. Otherwise your threat has no weight. Worse, never tell the enemy you are going to strike and then, for whatever reason, don’t strike. That’s what gets the name of “Paper Tiger” pinned to the front of your shirt.

Now that Obama has his very own war the democrats in the House and Senate have gotten antsy and nervous and, some of them, just down right scared. They are already pushing their President for an exit plan. Why, they’re even threatening to withhold funding for Obama’s war in Afghanistan if he doesn’t produce an exit plan. An exit plan, especially if made public, (and telling Congress and the Senate about such a plan is tantamount to going public with it) is just another tool handed to the enemy to use against you. He can defeat your superior army, he can defeat your superior technology, simply by … doing nothing but husbanding his resources until you leave. Then, he simply moves into the vacuum you created by removing your forces

Look, you never go into a fight looking for the exit! That immediately tells your opponent several things. First, you are not committed to victory. Second, all they have to do is to wait you out, and third, you are, quite likely, a “paper tiger” who talks a good fight, but when the shooting begins, you will turn and run away. And most important of all the things the enemy will learn from you is that you are unsure of yourself, your army, your support back home, and that you are frightened

It is amateurish. It is naïve. It is dumb. When a US Senator takes to the floor of the Senate, or a Congressperson takes to the podium in the Well of the House, to demand that the Commander-in-Chief set a date certain for troop withdrawal from a battlefield, our enemies hold their sides as they rock to and fro with laughter and disbelief at their good fortune.

The United States of America must surely have the least intelligent Congress we have ever had in the history of the country! They are a pathetic bunch. They resemble nothing less than a kindergarten at recess.

Looking seriously at Afghanistan, it is difficult to accept the concept that it is, indeed, a country at all. It is more like an amalgam of tribes living in various areas of a “region” with their loyalties pledged to the tribe, not the nation. How do you know when you have won a war against a people such as the Afghans? Who do you sit down with and sign the “surrender” papers? (And, yes, these are serious questions.) How do you maintain the peace… other than by garrisoning the whole country? Frankly, I don’t see how it can be done. Make no mistake about it… Afghanistan is not Iraq! Far from it.

If we want to get serious about looking for Osama Bin Laden then go for it. Dig him out, whatever it takes. Once we have established we have either captured him, or that he is dead, or both, then we should bring our troops home and leave Afghanistan to the Afghans… unless, of course, we are prepared to stay there for many, many, decades into the future.

In my opinion, President Obama is about to bite off more than he can chew… again. But, messiahs are expected to perform miracles like that, aren’t they?

"I'd like to Propose..."

“I’d Like to Propose….”

J. D. Longstreet (and an Unknown Author)

Like you, I get tons of e-mail. Every so often I get material for a “suggested commentary” from readers. That’s how this one came to be in my inbox. As I am not mathematically inclined, I have not run the numbers so I cannot vouch for their accuracy and I will not even try.

Having said that, I must also say, the writer, whoever, he/she is, does posit some fodder for thought, especially when the country finds itself in trying financial times such as we are experiencing today in America. Our form of capitalism comes with these cycles built in.

IF we remain a capitalist country, and I have strong doubts that we will, we must go back to teaching our scholars, while they are yet in high school, that recessions, and recovery from same, and yes, even depressions, will come and go. It is the way a system based on a free market operates. It is when we forget that fundamental of capitalist economics that we get into trouble. I was taught that in high school over half a century ago. It has stuck with me and, as a result, I tend not to get rattled when the “slow downs” come. The trick, of course, is to plan for the slow downs during the cycles of plenty. America could take a lesson from Joseph’s interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream about the seven years of plenty and the seven years of famine. But, that is a commentary for another day.

The Proposal: (Author Unknown)

When a company falls on difficult times, one of the things that seems to happen is they reduce their staff and workers. The remaining workers need to find ways to continue to do a good job or risk that their job would be eliminated as well. Wall street, and the media, normally congratulate the CEO for making this type of "tough decision", and his board of directors gives him a big bonus.

Our government should not be immune from similar risks.

Therefore: Why not reduce the House of Representatives from the current 435 members to 218 members and Senate members from 100 to 50 (one per State). Also reduce the remaining staff by 25%.

Accomplish this over the next 8 years. (Two steps / two elections) and of course this would require some redistricting.

Some yearly monetary gains include:

$44,108,400 for elimination of base pay for congress.
(267 members X $165,200 pay / member / yr.)

$97,175,000 for elimination of the above people's staff. (Estimate $1.3 Mil in staff per each member of the House, and $3 Mil in staff per each member of the Senate every year).

$240,294 for the reduction in remaining staff by 25%.

$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork barrel earmarks each year. (Those members whose jobs are gone. Current estimates for total government pork earmarks are at $15 Billion / yr)

The remaining Representatives would need to work smarter and would need to improve efficiency. It might even be in their best interests to work together for the good of our country? (Ya Think???… Ed)

We may also expect that smaller committees might lead to a more efficient resolution of issues as well. It might even be easier to keep track of what your representative is doing.

Congress has more tools available to do their jobs than it had back in 1911 when the current number of representatives was established. (Telephone, computers, cell phones to name a few)

Note: Congress did not hesitate to head home when it was a holiday, when the nation needed a real fix to the economic problems. Also, we have 3 senators that have not been doing their jobs for the past 18+ months (on the campaign trail) and still they all have been accepting full pay. These facts alone support a reduction in Senators & Congresspersons.

Summary of Opportunity:

$ 44,108,400 reduction of Congress members.

$282,100,000 for elimination of the reduced house member staff.

$150,000,000 for elimination of reduced senate member staff.

$59,675,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining House members.

$37,500,000 for 25% reduction of staff for remaining Senate members.

$7,500,000,000 reduction in pork added to bills by the reduction of congress members.

$8,073,383,400 per year (estimated total savings.)

Big business does these types of cuts all the time.

If Congresspersons were required to serve 20, 25 or 30 years (like everyone else) in order to collect retirement benefits… there is no telling how much we would save. Now they get full retirement after serving only ONE term.

*******************

Now, I am not so naive as to believe that any of this is going to happen… at least not in my lifetime… if ever. Some of it even begs the question of feasibility. Nevertheless, it IS interesting to ponder.

The so-called “Stimulus Bill,” which is expected to be passed at any moment, in my opinion, is only going to set us back, deeper into the current recession, and our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will be paying for it. Where else is the money going to come from to pay for all this? It must come from you and me and the others listed above. The Stimulus Bill is not going to do one single thing to get us out of debt. It is only going to suffocate us under tons and tons of MORE DEBT.

I would remind you, as so many other conservative writers have, that FDR did not get America out of her last, much, much, worst, Depression. In fact, FDR made it worse by doing exactly the same things the Obama Administration and our leftist/socialist Congress is doing. Apparently, our government doesn’t know its own history, and it is repeating it.

So, buckle up America, it is all down hill for a while, at least until we bottom out. Maybe, just maybe, the American people will, by that time, have seen the error of their ways (by electing a socialist government) and toss them all out on their rear-ends and replace them with some realist conservatives. Until then, America is facing some dark, dark, days ahead.

Newspapers Meet Their "End Times'

Newspapers Meet Their “End Times.”
By: J. D Longstreet
****************************

My morning paper was not delivered again today. I had to go out and drive to the nearest newspaper rack, 3 blocks away, and purchase a paper because I did not get the once I had already paid for… in advance.

Many days I sit here at the computer anxiously awaiting the arrival of my morning paper. Many mornings it will not arrive before mid-morning when I no longer need it. Yet, I have paid for it in advance. It has gotten so bad I often leave today’s paper in the box and get it out tomorrow morning and read it, a day late, in order to have a paper at the breakfast table! (It’s a cultural thing!)

On the bright side… I have been reading Google’s news since around 3 this morning. And for years now, I have been going to websites of newspapers from Europe, usually Great Britain, or Australia, to get news about what’s happening in the US because, frankly, it is more reliable for accuracy and lack of bias toward the political left or right in America. So, I am fairly well informed at this point of the morning even without having received my own newspaper.

Newspapers are in deep, deep trouble… and they have brought it upon themselves. And guess what? They still do not understand what has happened to them, nor why! Take a look at the latest edition of Time Magazine for February 16th. Check the front cover. Now read the article by Walter Isaacson. It begins on page 30. It’s title: “How to Save Your Newspaper.” If you, perchance, do not subscribe to Time Magazine, you can read the article HERE.

See what I mean? I would respectfully disagree with Mr. Isaacson’s. It is my contention that the print media still does not understand the problem they are facing. They have yet, in my opinion, to understand that, by and large, the people of America are conservative… to varying degrees, of course, yet most Americans hold conservative views on many, many, things and they are just tired of the print media’s liberal stance on practically everything. It is tiring, and it is boring, and we’ve had enough. This is the very same reason, in my opinion, that liberal talk shows on the broadcast media fall so far behind in listenership when they come up against conservative talk radio.

I wrote an article a year ago on this same topic. Frankly, I had no idea the consumers of newspapers, indeed, all the print media, would move so quickly to dump the liberal media. It was obvious, even then, that it was coming, but the rapidity with which it swooped down upon the ink stained hordes is amazing.

Newspapers are NOT a healthy business right now… not by any stretch of the imagination. Both my regional papers are laying off staff, and one is reducing the size of the pages because of the cost of newsprint paper, and they are even looking at using a different font, one that will not use as much ink as the font they are currently using. The proposed font is MUCH harder to see and read. It doesn’t have the depth of the old font and those of us who depend on spectacles to wind our way through that jungle of the already fine print will have the dickens of a time reading this proposed font, IF they actually DO switch to it. I have already let the editor and publisher know of my feelings on the matter. Hey, they asked!

Newspapers are in serious danger of going the way of the dinosaur. You would think they would, at least, look at their content. Usually, when the consumers refuse a product, it has something to do with the consumer’s perception of the quality of that product. When you consistently feed liberal drivel to the masses, and a huge percentage of those masses are conservative, sooner or later, they are going to say enough, and begin to look for a source of information more in line with their own core belief. You would think the print media could see that. And you would think service to their subscribers would receive much more consideration than it does now. But neither is happening. If it is… it certainly is not obvious!

I have a friend, way across this state that receives the premier newspaper in the state delivered to his home when he gets it! He is having the same problem we are having, out here on the coast, with an entirely different publishing company. Is this an indicator of a nationwide trend?

Newspapers are fast becoming a thing of the past. Home delivery is on the way out… I know that. The papers are having a hell of a time getting carriers as a result of the cost of gasoline and upkeep to their vehicles. In some I cases, I am informed that newspapers have had to guarantee carriers “X” number of dollars, a month, before they will even take the job. Believe me, I understand that. But, do not sell me a subscription to your paper and promise to deliver it before a certain time in the morning and then be either consistently late, by as much as 2 hours, or more, or… do not deliver at all. There is no excuse for that… none, whatsoever.

I have watched the size of the newspaper page diminish. I have watched the thickness of the newsprint paper diminish, and I have now seen service to subscribers diminish. Is the newspaper business deaf, dumb, and blind? These are just more reasons people are not using their product nearly as much these days… I mean other than disagreement with the print media’s biases.

Ad sales are the lifeblood of a newspaper. Believe me, once their advertisers become aware their ads are NOT reaching the numbers of subscribers they had expected, there will be another huge decrease in the paper’s ad sales which translates in to lost profits. A newspaper can survive a good while with dwindling subscribers. But when the advertisers begin to fall off, death comes quickly.

So, maybe we are witnessing the swan song of the newspaper business as a “brick and mortar” business. Do you think so? Actually, I hate to see that happen, but it certainly looks as if it is. But contrary to what the experts may think, charging money to read an article, a column, or even a blog from their online site is not the answer. Newspapers and print magazines are in apocalyptic days. The “End Times” are upon them. Their death throes are not pretty.

No State For Palestine… EVER!

No State for Palestine… ever!

J. D. Longstreet

*********************

The simple truth is, there should be no Palestinian state and there is no reason, today, to think there will be any time in in the immediate future.

Did you know that the area and the people, erroneously called Palestinians, were offered a state of their own back in the 1930’s? Bet you didn’t know that.

It seems we have to go over the history of the rejected Palestinian state over and over and I can only surmise the Public School System and the university and college systems in the US simply don’t teach it!

Look, the plain truth is… the people, calling themselves Palestinians, have been offered a state of their own at least three times since the 1936 Arab revolt. They have flatly turned it down every time! Yes! The first offer made by the Peel Commission in the 1930s offered them a vast piece of real estate much larger that that offered to the Jews… andthey turned it down!

UN Resolution 181 passed soon after the Second World War gave Israel 55% of the so-called Palestine and the Palestinians 45%. The Jews accepted and in doing so recognized that Palestine would become a state next door to them. They accepted that. But the Arabs rejected it, flat out, and started another war against the Jews, which they (the Arabs) promptly lost.

It has been 60 years now and the whining and moaning is still coming from the “woe is me” crowd who called themselves Palestinians.

The problems between Israel and the Palestinians are not because Israel has settled on some disputed land. No! The cause of all the trouble in that “center of the earth” strip of land is due entirely to the Arabs refusal to accept the existence of a Jewish state called Israel, or called anything else, for that matter. That is the crux of the problem.

“Right of Return” is far more dangerous to The State of Israel than an all out attack by their Arab neighbors. You’re going to hear more and more about the Palestinians demand for a Right of Return.

So what is the Right of Return? “The idea of the right of return is to demand that Israel allow the descendants of the 750,000 Palestinians who were displaced in 1948 and their families (which now stands at almost 4 million) back into Israel and give them full compensation for their troubles. Even if only half of these Palestinians returned, it would alter Israel's identity as a Jewish state and effectively create a second Palestinian state. One assumption made under the right of return is that the all the Arabs that lived in Israel proper were forcibly expelled from their homes in 1947 and 48. This is a myth. While historians know for a fact that a small number of the 750,000 displaced Arabs were forcibly expelled by Zionist militias (a famous example being Deir Yassin), honest and impartial historians also know that a large number of this 750,000 strong population left on their own, either to avoid an upcoming war between the Zionists and the Arabs, or to join the Arabs in the fighting against the newly established state.” (From:the Middle East Now. You'll find it HERE. )

The "Palestinians" will obfuscate, and delay, and continue to carry on their war to wipe Israel from the face of the map. They will use any means to do it, up to, and including, using the US State Department and Secretary of State... and a VERY naive President to do it.

As a conservative, I believe in “peace through victory”. To take that a step farther, I believe we ought to unleash Israel and let them do whatever they find necessary to eradicate the Palestinian problem on their borders.

But that is not going to happen any time soon. Watch as our socialist President, with his Secretary of State, try to bring peace to the the Holy Land. Watch as the Arabs play them for "suckers" just as they have all the rest since the late 1940's. It would be funny... if it were not for all the dead bodies lying all over the landscape.

If the world truly wants peace in the Middle East, especially that portion we erroneously call Palestine, then the world should get out of the way and allow Israel to take care of business.

"Obamacare": More Socialism in America... Universal Healthcare

More Socialism in America: Universal Healthcare
By: J. D. Longstreet

**********************
The charge by the democrats to set up a "National Health Insurance" program in America officially began with Obama signing the new CHIP bill, a few days ago, which extended health care coverage to 4 million uninsured children. The President was not the least bit bashful in announcing that his action, in signing the bill, was the first step in fulfilling his promise made during the campaign to provide universal health insurance for all Americans. To quote Obama he said: "As I think everybody here will agree, this is only the first step. Because the way I see it, providing coverage to 11 million children through CHIP is a down payment on my commitment to cover every single American."

Now, you may think this is just swell. We don't! In fact we are pledged to work as hard as we can to see that universal health insurance does not come to America.

Why? Mainly, for two reasons. First: because it is out and out socialism. That is why, dear reader, it is referred to as socialized medicine! The second reason, and just as important as the first, is the fact that socialized medicine will utterly destroy what is arguably, the best healthcare system on the planet!

Some of you will disagree with me, I'm sure. That is your right. But bear with me for a moment or two, and keep reading, and we will try to change your mind.

A few months ago I wrote the following, which is every bit as pertinent today as it was then, so I'm going to repeat it. Back then I wrote this:

We are continuing to lose our privacy, here in America, at an ever-increasing speed. There is hardly a place in America one can go, these days, without being seen by someone’s security cameras. I recently stood in a parking lot of one of the Big Box stores and counted 22 cameras zeroed in on the parking area, and entrances, and exits, to the store. And that was just on the OUTSIDE, at the front, of the store!

If you think Big Brother’s snooping is bad now just wait. It will get worse, a LOT worse, IF we allow it.

Weigh too much? Lose weight… or the government won’t pay for your medical bills.

Drive too fast? Slow down… or the government won’t pay for your medical bills if you’re in an accident.

Smoke? The government won’t pay for your medical bills, period.

Have more than (two) kids? Your medical bills will not be paid if you exceed the allowable limit on babies.

Pregnant with a third child and the government insists that you have an abortion, but you really want this third child? Well, either have an abortion, or that third child will have no medical coverage and the cost of the pregnancy, and delivery, will not be covered, either.

Didn’t finish High School? Your medical bills will not be covered if you do not get a High School Diploma (At least a GED).

Take the wrong courses in college? Well, if you didn’t check before you signed up for a course, and you signed-up for a course the government thinks is uncalled for, or that you do not need for your chosen occupation… then your medical bills will not be picked up by the National Healthcare.

Own a gun? Why, everyone knows there is an epidemic of deaths due to handguns in America. So it is a health issue. National Healthcare will not pay for your medical bills until you turn in your guns to the government!

Choose the wrong career, and you are on your own… no medical help from the government.

Get the picture? Almost total control. And you, and I, will have given that power to the government!

So, next time you hear someone calling for National Healthcare/Universal Healthcare, remind them of all the freedom they will give up for that "cradle to the grave" care. The founders of the United States of America wanted us to live free... healthy, if we could manage it, but free in any event. Today, it seems we are prepared to give up our freedom for a modern day form of Marxism... Socialized Medicine!

Ok, so what about the cost to Americans in dollars, per year? Right now, if the economy doesn't get any worse, (and I think we can agree that the economy is certainly going to get worse under the policies Obama is trying so desperately to set in place)... the universal healthcare program will cost us around 150 BILLION per year! The possible ten-year cost-out might be expected to exceed 3 TRILLION dollars. There is an excellent article over at the Washington Times we recommend. You'll find it HERE.

To make it even worse, it is expected the bill, when passed through the Congress, most likely will outlaw private health insurance, altogether. The democrats understand that to make the Universal Healthcare System work, at all, nobody can be allowed to have any form of insurance that is superior to the National Healthcare Program.

What about clandestine healthcare? You know... sneaking around to find a doctor who will treat you for a fee, off the books and out of sight of the government. Well, if you seek out a doctor, and have an examination, and pay the doc in cash, you and the doctor could both go to jail!

If you think medical care is bad now, wait until we have Obama’s national health insurance program. If you think government is intrusive now… just wait for “Obamacare.” Our every move will be monitored, and the government will direct us in every facet of our lives. To some of you that will be comforting, I’m sure. But to those of us who feel responsible for our own lives and take responsibility for them, it is pure, unadulterated horror! If you think the government is intrusive in your life now... just wait... you ain't seen nothing yet!

There is just so much to understand about how a national healthcare system would work that most Americans will never understand it... until it is too late and we are saddled with this horror from hell! It has become obvious, to those of us who actually pay attention to what our government is doing, that Obama, and his cohorts in Congress, plan to push the national healthcare bill (Obamacare) as hard and as fast as they can through the Congress before you and I can read the small print. Many, if not most, of the Congresspersons and Senators will NEVER read it all. And yes, they WILL vote on it without ever having read it.

It is time, actually it is past time, for all Americans who love freedom, to write, call, fax, telegram, or e-mail their Congressperson and Senators and urge them to fight against a National Healthcare Program bill that will suffocate the remaining freedom we have as Americans. There is not a minute to lose. The democrats are planning to make an attempt at running this thing through Congress at a record breaking speed to defy any chance you may have of acquainting yourself with what is in the actual bill itself.

Don't be suckered again, America! Universal healthcare is not democracy. It is socialism. Universal healthcare is not about healthcare. It is about power for the ruling class.

It is time to get your back up and act as an American. Playing the part of a wimp is Un-American! And lying down and rolling over for a Congress and a President whose intention is to acquire all the power possible for themselves at the expense of the common, everyday, American is skullduggery at the lowest level. And THAT, dear reader, is exactly what is going on in Washington today!

It is time to reclaim that which is rightfully ours... our freedom!
