Earth Day and Environmental Insanity ... Alan Caruba

Earth Day and Environmental Insanity

By Alan Caruba

Anyone who has been paying any attention to the environmental movement has got to have concluded it is insane.

• While the United States stands poised on defaulting on its ever-growing debt—the highest in the nation’s history;

• While wars and insurrections are waged in the Middle East, across northern Africa, and in the Ivory Coast;

• While Japan struggles to deal with a major earthquake and nuclear plant meltdown;

• While Islam wages terrorism worldwide, and

• While European nations attempt to deal with their own financial crisis, the environmentalists—Greens—engage in the most absurd frauds and nonsense since the Dark Ages.

In news from the United Nations—a misnomer if ever there was one—Bolivia is proposing a UN treaty that will give “Mother Earth” the same rights as accorded to human beings. It has just passed a domestic law that grants these rights to bugs, trees, and all other natural things in its own country.

According to the Bolivian proposal, humans have sought to “dominate and exploit” the Earth in ways that threaten the “well-being and existence of many beings” such as malaria-bearing mosquitoes, lice and ticks that spread disease, trees that provide timber for shelter and countless other uses, venomous snakes, and every other creature upon which we depend for food---beef, chickens, and fish, to name just three.

The Bolivian law, if successful, will end the extraction of all natural resources in that nation, thus effectively plunging it into insolvency. That is a definition of insanity. It is also a description of the United States of America where access to its vast reserves of coal, natural gas, and oil is being systematically denied by the government.

This is occurring as the Environmental Protection Agency continues its effort to declare carbon dioxide (CO2) a “pollutant” that must be regulated, despite the fact that is vital to all life on Earth.

In America, there has been a resurgence of bed bugs, formerly controlled by DDT. The EPA recently awarded $550,000 in grants to the University of Missouri, Texas A&M University, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Rutgers University, and the Michigan Department of Community Health, for bed bug “education, outreach, and environmental justice departments.” So, instead of authorizing the use of a pesticide to rid us all of bed bugs, it wants to “educate” us to live with them. That’s insane.

The U.S. Forest Service scientists will hire field crews “to gather information on the conditions of forests from approximately 1,000 sites in five western states, Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington, “for a comprehensive study on the health of trees in urban areas.” No mention of the millions this will waste, but it is heralded as part of Obama’s “America’s Great Outdoors Initiative.”

At the same time, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has just announced that the department will spend $1 million in “cost-sharing funding for children’s programs in 18 States and Puerto Rico, furthering USDA’s commitment to connect young people around the country with America’s great outdoors.” Why?

A rational nation that’s $14 trillion in debt, borrowing 40 cents of every dollar it spends, would not do such things, but the United States does while its President calls for higher taxes. And why not? The Obama administration spent up to $200 million to promote Obamacare. While that was happening, 26 States joined in demanding its repeal and a U.S. federal court judge declared it unconstitutional.

As the nation struggles to reverse an unsustainable trend toward financial doom, Greens are trumpeting an “Extended Producer Responsibility” program to achieve “waste reduction and increased recycling” that would make manufacturers “liable for the cost of recycling TVs and other electronics at the end of their useful lives” and alter the way they package goods. This is not the manufacturer’s responsibility and will increase the cost of everything everyone purchases.

On Earth Day, everyone will be exhorted to engage in “A billion acts of Green” and to purchase “Green” products, all of which cost more than everything else one purchases in the normal course of everyday life.

We are only now recovering from the greatest fraud of the modern era, “global warming.” The United States wasted an estimated $50 billion on so-called scientific research, all of which existed for the purpose of advancing this hoax. It is rarely mentioned any more except for its fraudulent new name, “climate change.”

As we approach April 22nd, designated “Earth Day”, it would be well to recall that it is the birthday of Vladimir Illich Lenin, a devotee of Karl Marx and a man who plunged Russia into more than seventy years of Communism until the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.

Environmentalism, worldwide and in the United States of America, is devoted to the collapse of every scientific and technological advance of the past century, along with the capitalist system that made them possible.

There’s More Than One Way To Ban Guns In America

There’s More Than One Way To Ban Guns In America
Obama’s ATF About To Restrict America’s Gun Rights?

A Commentary By J. D. Longstreet

The ATF (The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) has issued a “Study on the Importability of Certain Shotguns.” Every gun owning American ought to read that publication.

We conservative commentators and pundits have warned America, even before Obama was elected, that once in office -- he would make a grab for your guns.  Never mind that the Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution said what it meant, and meant what it said in the 2nd Amendment… that was just a speed bump to the Obama Regime.

In an article at “Red State” entitled: Banning Guns by Changing Definitions, Part 4, the writer says the following:  “The ATF is laying the groundwork to restrict what is undeniably a right. This goes beyond simple government overreach to the realm of violating the oaths of office for those involved.” (Read the entire article HERE.)

Jeff Knox, at The Knox Update, says the following:  “One of the most important things about this ATF “study” and proposed shotgun importation ban is that it lays the groundwork for much broader, general shotgun restrictions.  Importation is not the only place where federal gun laws apply this unconstitutional “sporting purpose test,” it is also found in the National Firearms Act (NFA), the laws dealing with machineguns and destructive devices.  Under the NFA, any firearm with a bore greater than .5 inch is a “destructive device” – in the same category as mortars and Howitzers.  The only exception is for “shotguns which the secretary finds are generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes.”  If the secretary (in this case Attorney General Eric Holder) finds that certain shotguns are not importable because they are unsuitable for sporting purposes he must then explain why virtually identical guns, with the same features, are considered suitable for sporting purposes with regard to the NFA.  How can he declare them non-sporting on the one hand and not declare identical guns as non-sporting on the other?”

The Article at Red State continues:  “The current study refers to the conclusions drawn in prior ATF studies of rifles in 1989 and 1998, and handguns in 1968. It also draws on the NFA and the GCA (Gun Control Act of 1968) to justify the “sporting purpose” test, and the narrow interpretation that the ATF places on the test. The justifications are all linked together, like a knitted sweater. Pull on the piece of yarn called “imported shotguns” and you find when it’s unraveled enough that you’re tugging on the “domestic shotguns” yarn. Only now the “imported rifle” bit of yarn is hanging loose, just begging for someone to tug on it. Unravel that a bit and you reach “domestic rifles.” A similar bit of unraveling is likely to happen with the piece of yarn labeled “handgun.”

In other words, this report lays the groundwork to impose by regulatory fiat an entirely unconstitutional gun ban more draconian than the Clinton gun ban that expired in 2004, and bypasses Congress and the Constitution to do so. It needs to be stopped now. The ATF is accepting comments on the report until the end of April, 2011.”

In an article in November of 2008, I wrote the following:  “Here in “Gun Territory”, just minutes from my home, folks are hurrying to purchase a gun. The gun stores are forced to add new salespeople to handle the increase in customers.  You can read the story titled: “Gun Sales Booming After Election,” by John Ramsey, at the Fayetteville Observer site at:

You may ask why American individuals are buying so many firearms per person.  Simple.  Some will be used, others will be hidden... concealed. If anyone asks about them they will have been lost, stolen, or destroyed in some kind of catastrophe such as a fire, etc.

Americans are scared witless that the democrats, under the Obama leadership, will make a determined effort to seize their guns.  The democrats, including Obama, say they are for “Common sense” gun control.  The definition of “Common sense” is what scares gun owners. I mean, when a Congress, so devoid of knowledge about firearms, outlaws an entire type of rifle because it LOOKS scary,” that tells you all you ever need to know about their “common sense.”

The majority of Americans now understand, at some level, that America now has a socialist government in power in Washington, DC. They also understand that socialism resembles a whited sepulcher.  It may be beautiful on the outside but inside it is filled with the corpses of the dead.  Socialism’s outside is layered with promises of all things beautiful but inside there resides the dead bodies of truth. Most Americans know that our new leaders cannot be trusted. That means that the American citizen is vulnerable. That vulnerability is the key to the insecurity that is driving the purchase of weapons.” (You may read the entire article HERE.)

Americans were arming themselves then because they feared the Obama Regime would do exactly what it is doing today.

As it turns out – they were right.

Propaganda Must Be Countered By Truth

Propaganda Must Be Countered By Truth

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

Recently, I heard more false claims that the US stole much of the land that is now the southwestern states from Mexico.  It’s BUNK!

The mainstream media continues to publish those claims without counterbalancing them with the truth.  That does two things.  It emboldens those perpetrating those false claims against the US – and -- it is accepted as truth by our woefully undereducated citizenry.

Over a year ago we attempted an effort to bring truth to the discussion by explaining that the US did, in fact, purchase that land. It is a matter of historical fact.

As the months have gone by, I have seen no attempt to set the record straight.  This, dear reader, is how revisionist history becomes so successful.  No one refutes it.  It is the first rule of propaganda: tell the lie long enough and loud enough and it will eventually be accepted as truth. It would seem that is what those groups in the United States, whose aim it is to push Amnesty for Illegal Aliens legislation through the Congress and onto Obama’s desk for his signature, are endeavoring to do.   I mean, how can we insist that those people abide by the law and apply for citizenship in the US legally, because, after all, it IS THEIR LAND.

OK, let’s take another shot at setting the record straight and look at some facts.

First, The Mexican War:

The Mexican War between the United States and Mexico began with a Mexican attack on American troops along the southern border of Texas on Apr. 25, 1846. Fighting ended when U.S. Gen. Winfield Scott occupied Mexico City on Sept. 14, 1847; a few months later a peace treaty was signed (Feb. 2, 1848) at Guadalupe Hidalgo. In addition to recognizing the U.S. annexation of Texas defeated Mexico ceded California and, New Mexico (including all the present-day states of the Southwest) to the United States.

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, ending the Mexican War, was signed on February 2, 1848, by Nicholas P. Trist, for the United States, and by a special commission representing the collapsed government of Mexico.

Under the treaty, Mexico ceded to the United States Upper California and New Mexico (including Arizona) and recognized U.S. claims over Texas, with the Rio Grande as its southern boundary. The United States in turn paid Mexico $15,000,000, assumed the claims of American citizens against Mexico, ($3.25 Million) recognized prior land grants in the Southwest, and offered citizenship to any Mexicans residing in the area.  Then a few years later, the US bought the land that is now Arizona and New Mexico from Mexico for another 6 million dollars.

Why did we need that additional land?

After the end of the Mexican-American War in 1848, border disputes between the United States and Mexico remained unsettled. Land that now comprises lower Arizona and New Mexico was part of a proposed southern route for a transcontenental railroad. US President Franklin Pierce was convinced by Jefferson Davis, (Later the First President of the Confederate States of America)  then the US Secretary of War, to send James Gadsden (who had personal interests in the rail route) to negotiate the Gadsden Purchase with Mexico. Under the resulting agreement, the U.S. paid Mexico $10 million.  There was a problem with the money, however: Even though the agreement specified $10 million, the US Congress only agreed to pay $7 million. When the money finally arrived, in Mexico City, $1 million was found to be lost, thus making $6 million the amount Mexico actually got for the sale of that land.  Hey, they set the price… we paid it!

Run the numbers and you will find that the US paid Mexico $24,250,000.00 (24 million, two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand) US dollars for the land in the Southwest US which many claim, today, we (The US) stole!

You know,  I get a bit tired, and even short-tempered, with folks who attempt to perpetuate an untruth by the act of sheer ommission.  As  a Southerner, I know how that can hurt.  To say the US stole all that land in the Southwest is a flat-out lie.  So, 24 and-a-quarter-million isn’t much money?  Not by today’s standards perhaps, but back in the mid 1800’s we’re talking about somewhere in the area of $600,000,000.00!  Now that IS big bucks!

So, next time you hear someone prattling on about how the US stole all the southwestern United States from Mexico, set them straight.  Tell them we bought it and paid for it .  If they refuse to believe you refer them to the Guadalupe Hidalgo Treaty and the Gadsden’s Purchase a few years later.  It’s all there.  It’s a part of history.  A part of history students in the American government schools apparently never hear about.

Of course, the claims that we stole the land from Mexico is all a part of the propaganda being employed to saddle Americans with more undeserved guilt.  People who feel guilty will ofttimes respond in the way those proding them wish them to respond.  That is what is hoped for with all the unmitigated garbage heaped on America today.

Actually, as I view the relationship between the US and Mexico today, I tend to agree with those who feel we ought to annex the entire country of Mexico and run it as an American territory.   I mean, it’s not like we are not supporting the country of Mexico these days.  The billions of US dollars a year pouring into Mexico, from Mexican citizens who have burglarized the US, is staggering.

The US has a huge number of problems these days that must be dealt with.  But we must not let our guard down for one minute else an amnesty bill for illegal aliens will be passed by the Congress whether under Democratic or Republican control.  Eternal vigilance truly is the price of freedom.

Fears and facts
Fukushima’s lessons for America’s already safe nuclear plants
Paul Driessen
The ground hadn’t stopped shaking. Tsunami waters had not receded. And yet coverage of this awful natural disaster – a scene of almost unfathomable devastation and death – was already giving way to single-minded focus on radiation exposure and meltdowns.
Addressing justifiable concerns is essential, to allay fears and refocus attention on finding the missing, burying the dead, helping 450,000 displaced people, and rebuilding ravaged communities.
Like a third of nuclear plants in American service today, providing 20% of all US electricity, the 40-year-old Fukushima Daiichi plant is a “boiling water reactor.” Uranium in fuel rods generates heat to turn water into steam that drives turbines, which power generators.
Though not designed or built according to current standards, the Japanese plant had many upgrades and enhancements over the years. For the most part, they worked.
Originally designed to withstand a Richter scale magnitude 8 quake, Fukushima was struck by a magnitude 9 earthquake. The tremor carried ten times the power and released 32 times more energy than an 8, and rattled the plant with more “peak ground acceleration” than it was designed for.
Fukushima withstood all that. But then a 45-foot tsunami roared over the plant’s 25-foot-high seawall, took out its backup diesel generators and knocked out electricity for miles. After backup batteries died, fuel rods and spent fuel began to overheat and cause explosions and radiation leaks that crews are still battling, mostly with increasing success.
While 28,000 people are dead or missing from the earthquake and tsunami, nuclear fuel damage appears to be short of a meltdown. Radiation levels are being addressed though distribution of potassium iodide tablets, evacuations for several miles around the plant, food supply testing, and other measures.
That is reassuring. But better reactor designs are clearly needed, and are under development.
High temperature gas reactors employ helium, rather than water, as a coolant. One version, the pebble bed modular reactor, replaces fuel rods with 2-inch-diameter graphite balls containing uranium granules. The South African version has been designed, and sub-assemblies and fuel balls manufactured and tested successfully, but economics have put the project on hold. A Chinese pebble bed design is under construction.
Another reactor type could be powered by molten fluoride salt containing thorium. This fuel is more plentiful and more easily handled than uranium, and produces more energy per volume of fuel.
TerraPower’s “traveling wave” reactor uses waste uranium as a fuel; Bill Gates and other investors say commercial operations are 15 years away. A new nickel-hydrogen “cold fusion” reactor, developed by two Italian scientists, is also attracting attention.
Until these futuristic systems arrive on the scene, nuclear plants already in the concept, design or construction stage will be better and safer than those that already help power America. However, existing reactors and those under construction are safe.
Twenty US plants now undergoing licensing or site preparation are all Generation III. They feature more “inherently safe design” elements and more “passive” safety features (such as auto response and gravity cooling systems) that rely less on human interaction with complex control systems.
The 104 commercial reactors already operating in the United States are all Generation II, enhanced over the years in response to new safety concepts and equipment, newly identified threats (such as terrorism after 9/11), and problems like Three Mile Island.
Gen II power plants consist of boiling or pressure water reactors surrounded by a steel wall, steel-reinforced concrete casing, and steel-reinforced concrete building. Nuclear engineers say US-based plants are designed, engineered and built to handle expected worst-case disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and floods – and analyzed for possible effects of terrorism – with multiple backup systems.
These efforts are supplemented during and after construction by exhaustive design reviews and modifications, and ongoing upgrades or replacement of equipment, instruments, controls and power lines.  Further enhancements to equipment, training and procedures occur during the relicensing process and in response to natural disasters, operator errors, equipment failures, terrorist acts, and the discovery of design or manufacturing defects, in the US and around the world.
The system is designed to provide defense in depth, have appropriate equipment and procedures in place, and establish a “culture of safety.” Operators are trained continually to execute normal and emergency procedures, and emergency preparedness is drilled every two years with industry, state and local officials, under oversight by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Fukushima apparently was insufficiently prepared for a disaster of the magnitude it experienced, in this major Pacific Ring of Fire earthquake and tsunami zone. The failure of diesel generators is already driving another look at passive safety systems; the hydrogen explosions a reassessment of ways to vent pressure buildups to special containment vessels; the overheating spent fuel rods new demands for reprocessing or safe offsite waste repositories, like Yucca Mountain.
The industry, NRC, FEMA, Congress, and state agencies are all reassessing and re-verifying the ability of nuclear plants, plans, equipment and personnel to handle events of Fukushima’s magnitude. Lessons from that near-disaster will be evaluated and employed worldwide.
Meanwhile, development of Generation III and IV nuclear reactors continues globally.
There can be no guarantees, no absolute fail-safe system. But those entrusted with nuclear power plant electricity generation and safety can and must come as close as possible.
Meanwhile, the rest of us must focus on helping northeastern Honshu recover – and offering thanks and prayers for the heroic workers who exposed themselves to dangerous radiation levels, to prevent a real disaster.

Dump "The Donald" ... Alan Caruba

Dump "The Donald"

By Alan Caruba

Listening to and watching Donald Trump talk with Fox News’s Sean Hannity about how rich he is and how smart he is was truly a vomit-inducing moment. The notion that this extremely successful egomaniac would ever be President of the United States is surreal. It’s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington on steroids.

Now we learn that he is going to announce whether he is going to run on the season finale of “The Apprentice.” The show is scheduled to air on May 15. Reportedly he will hold a press conference to announce the decision about being a candidate in the Trump Tower in New York “a few days after” the finale.

This is such a naked sham for the purpose of getting lots of viewers for his show that it should be embarrassing to everyone who has, even momentarily, taken his phony “campaign” to gain the Republican Party’s nomination seriously. Hannity was snookered or, more likely, he was using Trump to hype his show’s ratings and vice versa. In a similar fashion, Fox’s Greta Van Susteren has of late used Trump appearances for her show.

Just as I and others cautioned voters in 2008 that Barack Obama was a completely unknown quantity with a totally fabricated life story, it behooves me to warn voters to GET SERIOUS about Trump.

Running the nation requires credentials that go well beyond being a successful businessman. America has coast-to-coast successful businessmen and women, but if a company’s CEO makes bad decisions, the Board of Directors can fire them. You can’t say “You’re fired!” to the President of the United States until the next election.

Let me get the formalities out of the way. I am not jealous of Donald Trump because he’s rich. Much of the population is richer than me and I could not care less. I understand that Trump has exhibited considerable business acumen, but that is not the same as political acumen, nor does it suggest that it prepares him to deal with heads of state and the nasty events that occur; frequently unexpectedly.

Nor has everything Trump has put his name to been a great success. He gambled on gambling in Atlantic City and that was a bad bet. Fortunately he owed the banks so much money he could write his own ticket. In fairness, all the casinos took a bath. Instead of gambling, the few people visiting Atlantic City these days are there to buy its famous salt water taffy.

Trump is a strident self-promoter. He is a bombast. He lacks subtlety which, for his line of work may be a good thing, but for someone to whom we would have to trust the future of the nation, what he lacks most is the experience that a professional politician acquires over time. I hate to admit this, but it is true. The lack of this experience and judgment is blindingly apparent in the current White House resident.

Trump wants to win—all the time. Politicians want to survive with their principles reasonably intact and a fat government pension. It is a whole different mindset. The ones the voters reject tend to become lobbyists.

We have a history of presidents who just stunk up the job because they came to it as engineers like Hoover and Carter or ivory tower scholars like Wilson. For a long time, Americans elected a succession of generals because the president’s job was mostly about expanding the size of the nation, generally by shooting our way to the West Coast, or fending off Barbary Pirates, yet another of Thomas Jefferson’s many achievements.

Presidents become celebrities AFTER they’ve been in the office. Few are celebrities going in unless, like Obama, their celebrity is totally manufactured by skilled public relations professionals. After two years in the job, the only things we know for sure about Obama is that he’s a moron, probably a Muslim, and definitely a Marxist.

If you want business acumen, Mitt Romney has it to spare. True, he’s a bit of a RINO, but it’s hard to find a Republican these days who isn’t. Gov. Pawlenty is a politician and that is not a bad thing. Gov. Huckabee was a politician, but is now a successful anchor of his own show on Fox News. He is going to stay put. Rep. Bachman is the political equivalent of your ex-wife, smart and, like Trump, impossible to shut up. There's a reason we haven't heard from Sarah Palin lately and that's because she's smart enough to not want the job.

I guarantee you that, within one month of his inaugural, you would be kicking yourself for voting for Trump. His incessant need to demonstrate he knows best and is the greatest president ever would be the mirror image of Barack Obama’s crazed ideology.

Right now Trump is a novelty, a distraction, a false hope. There’s plenty of time for the campaign process to sort out who will be the Republican choice. My bet is that Trump will announce he’s not running. If I am wrong, the happiest man in America will be Barack Obama.

Possible GOP/Tea Party Presidential Ticket: Trump/West?

Possible GOP/Tea Party Presidential Ticket:  Trump/West?
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

OK.  Before you go all “union” on me – allow me to explain that I am, like most of you, I suspect, trying to get my head around the question of who the GOP is going to actually run as their candidate for the Office of President and Vice-President in 2012. Right now, I suspect, you are as confused as “yours truly.”

We conservatives are still looking for the “dark horse” candidate to appear and give us a reason to get excited about the 2012 election so we can stoke the fires that will drive our candidate across the finish line in victory and try to bring some sanity back to our federal government in Washington, DC.

Lately, the name of Congressman Allen West of Florida has been persistently popping up on blogs, in the news, and on talk shows.

Recently it was report that “It seems Florida Rep. Allen West is considering joining potential Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in a bid for president.”  Congressman West is reported to have said: “Who knows what’s going to happen,” Mr. West said “If the people think that I have an ability to continue my service of my country in a different capacity, first of all we gotta talk to God, we gotta talk to my family, we gotta talk to the constituents.”  (Read the entire article HERE.)

Possible candidate Donald Trump is set to speak at a Tea Party gathering in West’s state of Florida in the near future.

It seems Mr. Trump has little chance of getting the Republican nomination as the Presidential candidate and it has been reported that some GOP leaders ARE considering West as a Vice-Presidential candidate, a running mate for the candidate chosen to carry the Republican banner in the campaign for President.

That said, the Tea Party is seriously looking at BOTH men as possible Presidential candidates.  Both men are conservatives and Trump has been giving voice to the Tea Party’s platform.  He seems a much better fit as a Tea Party candidate than a GOP candidate.  But, he has publicly stated that his candidacy as a Tea Party candidate might result in splitting the conservative vote and usher Obama back into the Oval Office for a second term.  Trump does not want that and, it goes without saying, the conservative electorate does not want that, either.  In fact it is their worst nightmare.

Congressman West has made it clear that he did not want his comments to be interpreted as an endorsement of Trump.  In fact, he says he has no plans to endorse any candidate.

But the buzz about West as a presidential candidate is persistent and it is growing louder and more enthusiastic.

The American Thinker blog has asked the question:  “The Next Black President?”  In the article the thinker says:  “ Newly elected Allen West's conservative message has already made him a target of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. West's crime?  Expressing what the left would define as a racist opinion:  That America is presently in the business of making "more victims" and will not survive if we continue to foster Obama's "bureaucratic nanny state."

The keynote speaker at the 2011 CPAC, Colonel West did not exploit podium time to harp on racial, social or economic 'injustice,' but instead spoke of tried and true conservative concepts like "effective and efficient constitutional government, peace through strength, and staying true to...American values."

West's speech touched upon the tragedy of American culture being "subservient to multiculturalism," the need for America to promptly dispose of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the travesty of granting Constitutional rights to terrorists, and how the United States must always remain faithful to Israel.” (Read the entire article HERE.)

The article closes with this profound statement:  “Now as 2012 approaches, new voices offer a message of genuine "hope" and positive "change." On the horizon, the "dawn of a new America" approaches and with it comes a unique opportunity to replace America's first black president with a man who, secondary to being a patriotic American, just happens to be black.”  (SOURCE)

I, for one, will, most certainly, be scrutinizing Congressman West’s qualifications over the next weeks and months for my own edification and I suggest you do the same.

America has fallen on perilous times and we desperately need a conservative leader as President -- and conservative leadership in both houses of the Congress if we have any hope of rescuing America from the clutches of the terminal illness called socialism.

Judging from what I have read, so far, about Congressman Allen West he is certainly a man worthy of consideration by conservatives as a candidate for the top office in the US government.

Obama Set To REALLY Tick-Off Israel!

Obama Set To REALLY Tick-Off Israel!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

US foreign policy, as it pertains to the Middle East, reminds me of the piece the British band played when Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia ending the American Revolution.  As the British soldiers grounded their arms, the band played a song entitled:  “The World Turned Upside Down.”

That is the exact description of Obama’s Middle East policy.  What is up is down.  What is down is up.  The whole thing defies common sense.

He has abandoned America’s one friend in the region.  He has shown, and continues to show, support for America’s enemies in the region.

Obama’s War in Libya will haunt the US for decades -- if not centuries. And that is just one of many blunders in the region.

Now we learn that Obama will push for some kind of “comprehensive” Israeli-Arab peace, which would lead to a final settlement of the Israeli- (so-called “Palestinian”) peace agreement. (Learn more HERE.)

It is not going to happen. In fact it is going to get worse – much worse.  Obama’s machinations in that region have a very good chance of landing the US military right in the middle of the fighting when the balloon goes up.

That is the last place we want to the US military.  Trust me!  The Israeli Defense Forces come closer to matching US troops in training, equipment, war fighting ability, and just plain warrior’s zeal on the battlefield than the military of any other country on the globe. We DO NOT WANT US FORCES FACING OFF WITH ISRAELI FORCES.

That said, if Obama’s amateurish meddling in Israel’s affairs and his attempts to placate and muzzle the Arabs and the so-called Palestinians do not cease, there is a very good chance that that is exactly what will happen.

We are confident the UN will give its blessing for the creation of a Palestinian state this year, most likely in September.  If they do so, the State of Palestine will consist of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem. There are reports that the Obama Administration will not veto such a move by the UN General Assembly.  No surprise there.

Don’t worry.  A Palestinian State will not last very long.  The Palestinians cannot resist the urge to kill Jews and once the first killing, or first shot is fired against Israel, the IDF will overrun the Palestinian state and that land will, once again, belong solely to Israel.  Of course, that will instigate a regional conflagration with the US forced into the mess -- on one side or the other – or, in the middle.

"The president will be speaking in greater detail about America's policy in the Middle East and North Africa in the coming weeks.  America's core interests and values have not changed, including our commitment to promote human rights, resolve long-standing conflicts, counter Iran's threats and defeat al Qaeda and its extremist allies.  This includes renewed pursuit of comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace." (SOURCE)  That comment was made by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday April 12th, 2011 at the U.S.-Islamic World Forum. Qatar and the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank, sponsored the meeting.

Secretary Clinton made it plain that she and Obama were going to push for a “Two State Solution.”

Creating a Palestinian state will certainly not bring peace between Israel and the Palestinians.  If anything it will only throw fuel on the fire.

It defies logic that the US would be actively pressuring Israel to agree to such a plan.  With the entire region in a mass upheaval and with no hint as to how the governments of the various Arab countries will finally shake out, how can anyone, with the sense of a gnat, push such an idea on the only reasonably stable country (not to mention our friend) in the region.

Again, I say, it makes no sense. But it does point to just how inept the Obama Administration really is.

The WORLD is in deep trouble if Obama wins reelection next year.
