Send In The Clowns

Back in the heyday of the circus, when something untoward took place within one of the rings, or within view of the audience, something that was best unseen by the paying public, the ringmaster would shout: "Send in the clowns."  The antics of the clowns served as a way to direct the attention of the audience away from the bad scene until whatever the problem was was cleared up.

An astute observer, however, would know that when the clowns suddenly appeared out of place in the program format, something which was not a part of the program was occurring. 

I thought of that as I watched and read of Mr. Putin referring to Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry as "pranksters."  It's just another word for a "joker," a clown.
I have to thank Mr. Putin for finally saying out loud what we have been telling folks for years now, that much of the world views Mr. Obama as a joke.

We should note also that Israel's Defense Minister, Moshe Ya'alon, has Mr. Kerry's number as well. "On Monday, Ya'alon attacked the United States for failing to lead the campaign against Iran. “But at some stage the United States entered into negotiations with them, and unhappily, when it comes to negotiating at a Persian bazaar, the Iranians were better,” said Ya’alon, speaking during an event at Tel Aviv University, as reported by Haaretz.

At one point, the defense minister had said: "Look what’s happening in Ukraine, where the United States is demonstrating weakness, unfortunately.”

Of course, our thin skinned Mr. Kerry is demanding an apology from Ya’alon.  And get this:  Kerry did not call Ya'alon.  No he called Ya'alon's boss, Bibi Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, to complain.  That act alone should tell you everything you need to know about Mr. Kerry's attitude -- and -- should go a very long way in explaining how the US continues to get the dirty end of the stick in international negotiations.

This story just underlines the fact that Obama and his  minions may be able, on occasion, to dish it out, but they sure as heck can't take it!

Somehow, I get a vivid picture in my mind of the ring master, Mr. Obama, bathed in the glare of a spotlight, in the center ring, wearing his silk top hat, red swallow-tailed coat, jodhpur breeches, and shiny black patent leather knee boots, holding a coiled bull whip and shouting to some of the lesser lights around him to:  "Send in the clowns!"
Let's face it folks.  Our government has been more like a three ring circus since the Obama train pulled in and they strutted their parade to the White House and the Congress at the other end of the street. 

Someone (I don't know who.) once wisely said:  "When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out!"  There is much truth in that observation.

We've experienced a real three ring circus under Obama's big top for five years now.  It appears from this vantage point that things will only get worse over the remaining years of his tenure.  A depressing thought that has burdened me a great deal of late is the fact that so much time will be needed to repair the damage Obama and his Socialist/Marxist minions in the Congress have wrought that getting the country back on its proper course will necessarily be delayed. 

I often think how difficult it is going to be to extricate America from the socialist dung heap the Democrats, with Obama in the lead, have buried the country. 

One of our Founding Fathers and early Presidents, Thomas Jefferson,  said: "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work, and give to those who would not."  Think about what Jefferson said when the Democrats speak of wealth redistribution and inequality of income.

It is astounding, dear reader, at how far from the foundation of our country we have wandered.  The same President, I quoted above, Thomas Jefferson, in his very first Inaugural address said the following:  "What more is necessary to make us a happy and a prosperous people? Still one thing more, fellow citizens, a wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

A few days ago, as I read that President Obama was making yet another change n the Obamacare law without any input, or permission from the people's Congress, I remembered what the man often referred to  as the Father of the Constitution, and an early President said about laws that were too big to be read, like the 2700 plus pages of the Obamacare law. 

James Madison said this about such laws and about multiple changes to laws: "It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be tomorrow."  Makes one wonder how President Madison was able to see down through the centuries to today's Obamacare law, doesn't it?

About those clowns ... A recent report in the press stated that the US is running out of clowns.  Apparently, the researchers for that particular article overlooked the US Senate, US House, and the Oval Office, not to mention the various cabinet level secretariats.

It's bad enough that America's leadership is viewed as clowns around the world, but, it angers me that the American people are held in the same disregard as our dopey government functionaries. But then I remember, we DID elect them and tough as it is to admit,  the responsibility DOES fall on us.

On the bright side, we can clean up the mess.  We have an election coming up in just over seven months.  It's time to clean the House and purge the Senate.

We CAN take our government back and we can begin this coming November.

Obama, Putin:  Ever Hear Of The Monroe Doctrine?

Basically the Monroe Doctrine, boiled down to its essential parts states that European countries should stay on their side of the pond and the US will reciprocate by staying out of their business -- and -- on our side of the pond.

I have to wonder if either Obama or Putin have ever even heard about this policy instituted by American President James Monroe.

Let's take a closer look at the Monroe Doctrine:

The Monroe Doctrine was a US foreign policy regarding Latin American countries in the early 19th century. It stated that further efforts by European nations to colonize land or interfere with states in North or South America would be viewed as acts of aggression, requiring U.S. intervention. We can all see how well that is working out today, huh?

Consider this:  "As the world remains riveted on Moscow’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, Russian President Vladimir Putin is shifting gears to Latin America.

As first outlined by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu last February, Putin now plans to keep the United States off-balance as Moscow sets up actual military bases and massive arms sales in the Latin American region.

Moscow’s plan follows a recent announcement by Iran to have its warships patrol in waters off the U.S. coast.

The Monroe Doctrine would be invoked by many U.S. statesmen and several U.S. presidents, including Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Ronald Reagan, and many others.

Turns out the US does have a soft underbelly approachable from the Gulf of Mexico and points south. We are extremely vulnerable, it seems, from cruise missiles fired at us from the Gulf of Mexico.  Russia's Bear bombers have been equipped for sometime with cruise missiles and so have Russia's nuclear submarines, which have been operating in the warm waters of the Gulf for a very long time now.  

Of course, our vaunted leader is busy kissing the nether regions of the Little Dictator (who would be Czar) while ordering the US military decimated in full view of the enemy.

And make no mistake -- Russia is an enemy of the US.  All the while, Russia is busy recreating the Soviet Union with a goal of having it recognized as a confederation of former members of the Soviet Socialist States of Russia by the year 2025.  

And whose to stop Putin?  Currently he is the cock-of-the-walk whom no country is challenging.

The US cannot invoke the Monroe Doctrine as a result of Obama fiddling around with the politics and governments of European and Eurasian nations.

Once again the smartest President EVER, and his minions in the West Wing and the State Department, have allowed their messianic attitude to influence their so-called negotiations with Russia and the Ukraine.

If Obama would just stop talking!  President Lincoln said:  "It is better to remain silent and allow people to THINK you're a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Look.  I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis vividly.  I remember the fear we Americans, especially those of us living in the southeastern states at the time, felt.   Every time a jet flew over everything stopped and all eyes turned skyward.  At the time I was living some 30 miles from a major nuclear target city.  Years before I had been trained by the army how to handle the refugees from a nuclear blast delivered against that city.  I still have nightmares about how we were told we would be ordered to work the wounded, disposing of irradiated bodies, especially those who were victims of fatal does of radiation from the blast, until they, too, fell dead.  It sounds horrible -- and it was -- but we knew it would have to be done if any of us were to survive.

It was an incredible time of duress we lived under in those days. 

Today as we look at the possibility of that threat becoming real once again from Russian bases and Iranian bases in South America, I want to take our leftist limp-wristed government by the shoulders and shake it and demand:  "What the Hell is wrong with you people?"

Can you envisage the damage a single sub or a single Bear bomber could deliver by firing off a barrage of nuclear tipped cruise missiles from the Gulf of Mexico?  That's a SINGLE sub and/or a SINGLE bomber -- not a fleet, a flotilla, or a squadron!  Just ONE!

Oh, did I not mention that we have no defense against those cruise missiles?  Well, the fact is we do not.  We might get lucky and knock down a couple, or even a few, but for the most part they would be invincible and would reach their targets.

We can forget any solution to this problem until we get rid of the Obamas and the Clintons.  We need a solidly conservative Commander-in-Chief before we can expect to realize any improvement in our military and our national defenses.  

See, Obama, Clinton, and Kerry are far more concerned about non-existent global warming than they are about the safety and security of their fellow Americans.

We'd better wake up and begin planning for a conservative candidate for President in 2016.  At the moment, frankly, I don't see one anywhere on the horizon. 

Finally, as I wrote this piece, I began to wonder just how President James Monroe would view America's involvement in all our European and Asian entanglements and just how he would react to Russia and Iran building military bases in our backyard.   I suspect that if he were a "cussing" man, the air would be blue about him.  I daresay, he could not fathom the idiocy that brought America to this precipice.

If I were tasked with explaining it to President Monroe, I'd have to begin by explaining, somehow, that our leaders tossed out the constitution he so fastidiously wrote.  I don't even want to think about where the conversation would go from there. Suffice to say there IS NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION for what we have become. 

Try it. 

In the theater of your mind imagine yourself explaining to our Founding Fathers how we so desecrated and destroyed their beloved creation. 

Had we only .... .  But we didn't.  And here we are -- circling the drain.

Do you have the feeling that we no longer have government from the federal to the local level that is able to function because of vast volumes of laws and regulations that have made it impossible to do anything from build a bridge to run a nursing home? If so, you’re right. The nation is falling behind others who do a better job by permitting elected and appointed officials to actually make decisions. We are living in a nation where lawsuits follow every decision to accomplish anything.

This is the message of Philip K. Howard in a book that everyone concerned for the future of America should read; “The Rule of Nobody: Saving America from Dead Laws and Broken Government” ($23.95, W.W. Norton).

It explains why we can elect a Representative or Senator, send him or her to Washington, D.C. and still see no progress. Instead, we get the Affordable Care Act—Obamacare—that began as a 2,700-page law that has already metastasized into regulations that, stacked up, stand seven feet tall! And more on the way. It has destroyed the healthcare insurance industry and is destroying the U.S. healthcare system.

“The missing element in American government could hardly be more basic. No official has authority to make a decision. Law has crowded out the ability to be practical or fair,” says Howard. “It’s a progressive disease. As law grows to fill the vacuum, the wheels of government go slower every year.”

Howard points to a variety of problems that nation is encountering. “America’s electrical grid is out of date—transformers, on average, are about forty years old, and not digitized.” As vital and essential as the grid is to all life in America, “there’s no active plan to rebuild America’s electrical grid. The main reason is that government cannot make the decisions needed to approve it.”
 

Citing proposals that would allow the Bayonne Bridge to permit the new generation of large container ships clearance that would enable the Port of Newark to remain competitive, it took three years for environmental reviews to clear the project, but as Howard notes, “the average length of environmental review for highway projects, according to a study by the Regional Plan Association, is over eight years.” Eight years!

“Government on legal autopilot,” says Howard, “doesn’t have a chance of achieving solvency. In 2010, 70 percent of federal tax revenue was consumed by three entitlement programs—Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security—that don’t even come up for annual congressional authorization.”

Americans are in general agreement that Big Government is a big problem, but did you know that more than twenty million people work for federal, state and local government—or one in seven workers in America. Their salaries and benefits total more than $1.5 trillion of taxpayer funding each year or about ten percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Cities in America are declaring bankruptcy because they cannot afford the retirement and other benefits that their employees receive. State budgets are comparably weighed down.

We read about the often incomprehensible results and costs of the legal system affecting all levels of government. “Up and down the chain of social responsibility, responsible people do not feel free to make sensible decisions,” says Howard. “Everything is too complicated: rules in the workplace, rights in the classroom, and machinations in government. We’re bogged down in bureaucracy, pushed around by lawsuits, and unable to steer out of economic and cultural storms.”

“The point of regulation, we seem to have forgotten, is to make sure things work in a crowded society.”

What is forgotten or never learned is that there are elements of risk in everything we do. Trying to legislate risk out of our lives only leaves us with millions of rules that make it impossible to function intelligently in business, in schools, in hospitals and nursing homes, and everywhere else. It eliminates swings and seesaws from playgrounds out of fear of lawsuits.

“America is losing its soul,” says Howard. “Instead of creating legal structures that support our values, Americans are abandoning our values in deference to the bureaucratic structures.” Too often, decisions made by elected officials or reflected referendums voted upon by the public have been taken over by the court system in which judges now feel free to decide these matters. The response was a growing objection to “judicial activism.” Now even the judges are distrusted.

Howard’s book explains why America is in trouble and offers recommendations to put it on the right path again. If it is ignored, the America into which I was born more than seven decades ago will not be around or livable for the next generation or two of Americans.

Ryan, Obama and 'Racism'

Two men use similar language and the left calls one a bigot.

A week later, and liberals are still lining up to assail Paul Ryan's "racism." The episode is worth noting not because Mr. Ryan said anything wrong, but because of what it shows about the political habits of today's elected and media left. 

The Wisconsin Congressman has been looking into the problem of upward economic mobility and how effective federal programs are in combating poverty. Appearing on Bill Bennett's radio program, Mr. Ryan observed that antipoverty assistance can often create "incentives not to work and to stay where you are, that's not what we want in society. . . . There are a lot of people slipping through the cracks in America that are not reaching their potential and we as conservatives should have something to say about that." 

He also mused: "We have got this tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value and the culture of work, so there's a cultural problem that has to be dealt with."

The liberal online organ Think Progress led with the headline "Paul Ryan Blames Poverty On Lazy 'Inner City' Men," and it was off to the races. California Democrat Barbara Lee denounced his "thinly veiled racial attack," adding, "Let's be clear, when Mr. Ryan says 'inner city,' when he says 'culture,' these are simply code words for what he really means: 'black.'" Others were less charitable about his imagined neo-Confederate sympathies.

Mr. Ryan put out a statement saying he had been "inarticulate" but reiterated his point that "the predictable result" of the poverty trap for society at large has been "multi-generational poverty and little opportunity."

But don't take his word for it. "We know young black men are twice as likely as young white men to be 'disconnected'—not in school, not working. We've got to reconnect them. We've got to give more of these young men access to mentors. We've got to continue to encourage responsible fatherhood. We've got to provide more pathways to apply to college or find a job. We can keep them from falling through the cracks."

Those were the words of President Obama, speaking less than a month ago about his "My Brother's Keeper" project to help "groups who've seen fewer opportunities that have spanned generations," especially boys and young men of color. "It's going to take time. We're dealing with complicated issues that run deep in our history, run deep in our society, and are entrenched in our minds." 

No less than Mr. Ryan, Mr. Obama sure sounded like he was talking about "a cultural problem." He didn't mention "inner cities," but his entire White House initiative is geared to helping young minority men, not whites. The President even concluded with an ode to self-reliance that Mr. Ryan might have considered a little too lacking in nuance: "Government cannot play the only—or even the primary—role. . . . It's ultimately going to be up to these young men and all the young men who are out there to step up and seize responsibility for their own lives."

So even though Mr. Ryan never mentioned race, liberals attacked his off-the-cuff remarks as racist while the President's moral lecture was hardly noticed. Republicans are accused of racism if they ignore the least fortunate, and now they're racist for taking poverty and its causes seriously. Unless you unreservedly favor the welfare status quo, or used to be a community organizer, the left gets you coming and going.

The attacks on Mr. Ryan are one more example of the politics of personal vilification that typifies the left these days. Its policies were supposed to reduce inequality, but instead the income gap is widening. They were supposed to lift people out of poverty, but poverty has increased.

So the last thing they can tolerate is a conservative like Mr. Ryan who is looking for better solutions and using a moral language of opportunity and upward mobility that could appeal to Americans of all incomes and backgrounds. Liberals have to smear conservatives personally because they know they're losing on the merits.

The Path to War

Having lived through the long Cold War with the former Soviet Union, including the Cuban Missile crisis, my thoughts over those years were that their leaders would not risk war because the outcome would be disastrous for Russia. When it collapsed in 1991, its Eastern Europe satellite states broke free to establish their independence.

Now Vladimir Putin wants them back. The West can be forgiven for abandoning Crimea to the Russians because it was a part of their nation for hundreds of years and they have good reason to want to retain its only warm water ports there. That does not, however, give them a claim on the rest of the Ukraine. It is massing troops along its borders.

Historically, the path to war is often strewn with a failure to respond to aggression or with an over-response.

In the last century, the U.S. resisted involvement in European wars until it was under attack in some fashion. We entered World War Two that had been occurring since 1939 when Germany attacked Poland when we were attacked by the Japanese Empire in 1941 and we resisted getting into World War One for most of it until the very end. Begun in 1914, the U.S. did not enter until 1917 in response to submarine attacks and diplomatic efforts to encourage Mexico to reclaim its former territories. It was concluded in 1918, mostly because Germany had exhausted its resources by then. Barely twenty years later Hitler began World War Two.

Obama keeps talking about the 19^th century and international laws, but Russia and other enemies only understand the use of power to secure their expansionist ambitions. Vladimir Putin, now enjoying a renewed popularity at home may conclude he can seize the Ukraine with minimum effort and resistance.

He has reason to believe this given the feeble response of the U.S. and Europe to date. Some relatively minor sanctions have been announced and others are being considered. At this writing those sanctions involve seven Russians and four Ukrainians. There has been no U.S. military aid to Ukraine and only some minor transfers to military assets to Poland.

For Putin, the judgment rests on Obama’s weakness and whether he and Congress would respond more forcefully. He has little reason to believe this given Obama’s withdrawal from Iraq and the U.S. withdrawal occurring in Afghanistan. Add Obama’s continued reduction of the U.S. military budget and its level of power and you have the kind of calculations that can lead to more aggressive action by Russia.

World War One saw the end of several empires such as the Austrian-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. It launched modern warfare with the introduction of new, more lethal weapons and innovations such as aerial warfare. It began on June 28, 1914 with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Serbia. By August, Germany declared war on Russia, France, and Belgium, and on August 19^th the U.S. announced its neutrality.

Neither the U.S., nor Europe wants to engage Russia militarily, but neither has either to date demonstrated any intention to protect the Ukraine or other nations that border Russia. That failure has enormous implications and must be reversed with action that includes the transfer of NATO troops and other actions demonstrating the will to resist.

Obama keeps referring to the “international community” but in the real world all nations act to protect themselves despite organizations such as the United Nations, NATO and treaties that promise mutual aid and protection.

Putin knows this even if Obama and his advisors do not. Obama’s actions at home have weakened the U.S. by virtue of our enormous, historic debt and, as noted, his constant reductions to our military strength.

Strong financial sanctions against Russia may give Putin cause to reconsider, but we cannot wait much longer for their implementation. This is complicated by Europe’s and our own financial investments in what was seen as a new Russia.

Europe’s dependence on energy provided by Russia adds to its reluctance. Craig Rucker, the executive director of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT) notes that “The radical eco-left has gained such powerful sway across Europe that they have cut their nations off from their most reliable domestic sources of energy.”

“The feel-good cover story is laden with pictures of windmills and solar panels, but the hard facts remain that these expensive and inefficient sources of energy are not up to the task of powering a continent. That leaves much of Europe dependent on Gasprom, Russia’s natural gas export company and pipelines through the Ukraine.”

Overall, however, Russia is regarded to have a weak economy and a reliance on Western capital markets. That might be sufficient to forestall any action regarding the Ukraine.

With Putin in charge, we are looking at a former Russia, the Soviet model.

So the world watches as the U.S., its European allies, and Russia close in on a repeat of the last century’s history with the added threat of nuclear arms capable of destroying entire nations.

Can Any REAL Conservative Win in America?

The recent CPAC conference and poll is beyond disturbing. It’s downright frightening…

CPAC is allegedly a political action committee of, by and for “conservative” political operatives. But you won’t be able to prove that by the results of the most recent meeting, which resulted in 2016 Presidential support for Libertarian Rand Paul and constitutionally ineligible Ted Cruz, a Cuban from Canada.

Clearly, current members of CPAC, like current members of the Republican National Committee (RNC), have totally lost sight of what it is to be a “conservative.” When even the conservative PACs are promoting non-conservatives and ineligible candidates, how in the hell can anyone take a serious stab at electing a real American conservative today?

Would anyone in America vote for a REAL conservative today?

I’m afraid we are witnessing the final gasp of the once Grand Ole Party in America. Although a vast majority of Americans identify themselves as “conservatives,” a shrinking number of those people identify with America’s alleged conservative party, the Republican Party.

According to a recent Pew Research survey, “staunch conservatives” believe the following…

·         Extremely critical of the federal government

·         Favor peace through strength and active foreign engagement

·         Pro-business; against stricter environmental laws and regulations

·         Strongly opposed to abortion and same-sex marriage

·         Convinced the 2010 health care law will be bad for the country

·         View [illegal] immigrants as a threat to traditional American customs and values

According to survey results, only 9% of respondents were “staunch conservatives” on this basis.

·         84% of them are registered Republicans

·         72% tend to agree with Tea Party rhetoric

·         61% are over age 50

·         56% are financially stable, married, males

·         57% own guns and attend church

·         54% watch FOX News regularly

How do you elect a staunch conservative with these numbers?

An even more critical question is how do you save a Constitutional Republic without electing staunch conservatives, at a time in history when morally and ethically sound Constitutional Republicans are in short supply, and demonized by the other 91% of the politically active?

Where is the political support trending among other ideological voters?

·         55% believe government is an efficient solution, not the problem

·         31% believe in peace through weakness and global appeasement

·         39% believe government should control private earnings and return on investment

·         39% believe we need stricter environmental protection laws

·         51% believe the government can’t afford more social spending

·         27% believe ObamaCare is good for the country

·         71% claim religion an important part of their lives

·         38% believe the USA is no longer the best country in the world

·         39% believe immigrants threaten America today

At a time when America is more politically divided than ever, and an increasing number of citizens are dependent upon some form of government subsidy, can our Constitutional Republic be saved via an election process that is less reliable than the purple fingers of Iraq?

Political divisions are not at all unusual in America. They have existed since the beginning when Federalists and Anti-Federalists went at it over the creation of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Much more dangerous are the clear divisions inside the GOP, Americas “conservative” party. The recent CPAC event shines a bright light on those divisions, wherein a “conservative” PAC can’t even identify or advance a true conservative from within.

The GOP has been trying to overcome the RINO faction running the RNC for years now, without much success. That divide in the party left the door open for the libertarian movement to enter the battle for GOP power.

What do libertarians and conservatives have in common?

·         Both are extremely critical of the federal government today, but for different reasons

·         Both are economically conservative, in principles only

·         Both are pro-business, although libertarians are highly anti-corporation

·         Both want limited government and lower taxes

However, they disagree on the following…

·         They disagree on social issues, abortion, same-sex marriage, marijuana, etc.

·         They disagree on freedom of vs. freedom from religious expression

·         They disagree on foreign policy

·         They disagree on strong vs. weak national security

·         They disagree on Constitutional text

·         They disagree on immigration, including illegal immigration and amnesty

·         They disagree on upholding the entire Constitution vs. certain pieces only

·         They disagree on monetary policy

·         They disagree on America’s role in the world

·         Among other items…

The point being that there is actually very little that modern libertarians and conservatives agree on. As a result, the two are in a battle to seize control of the GOP, away from the RINO RNC “go along to get along” faction of the party.

The end result is a totally divided opposition to the Democratic Socialists currently driving the nation off a cliff, soon to result in a national collapse, at best.

Assuming that we could identify and recruit a REAL conservative with success on their résumé to run in 2016, is there any chance they could win in these conditions? I honestly don’t see how…

We have learned in the past that libertarians will only vote for their own kind… That many evangelicals would not vote for a Mormon… That RINOs will advance the most RINO candidate via the primary process designed to lock both true conservatives and libertarians out of the race…

In this condition, the “opposition party” is no real opposition at all. The Democratic Socialists could win the 2016 presidential election with no more than 40% of the popular vote, as the other 60% of voters are completely divided and impotent to overcome the enemy.

For a change, I will end here by asking for solutions rather than offering any…

The Republic's End Times?

As each day rolls by now it becomes ever more obvious that "The Republic" is doomed. I refer to the American constitutional, representative, republic.

We were doomed, I suppose, by the very process used to ensure a democracy ... democracy itself.  And that is the inherent danger of a democracy, any democracy.

We were warned well in advance.  Yet, we paid no heed.    The man at the center of the transformation of America made no secret of his intention to fundamentally change America.  In fact, he blatantly told us he intended to do just such a thing. And with a compliant US Senate made up of mostly Socialists, Marxists, Progressives, and a very few REAL liberals, they executed a brilliant coup de tat in plain sight 

The risk of electing a dictator, is always there in a democratic nation.  We allow citizens the freedom to vote for the person they most like, most trust, to lead the country.  All it takes is a bad mistake at the polls by freedom loving voters misled by slick, smooth, oratory and, let us not forget, the promise or the implication of… something for nothing.   I cannot overemphasize the importance of the electorate's ignorance.  It is my belief that ignorance played the largest role in the election of Obama to the presidency of the US than any other single causation. 

In a mad rush to the polls to elect the nation’s first “black” President, everything else was overlooked.  Important things like Obama’s socialist leanings, his obvious preference of Muslims over those of the Jewish and Christian faiths, his bent toward collectivism, Marxism, and his penchant for a “command and control” economy for the US.  None of this mattered to those ignorant of history, ignorant of the philosophies espoused by and believed in by Mr. Obama.  No. What was MOST important to them was the election of America’s first black president, whatever the cost. 

And there was a cost. Yes, the bill has come due. The cost was only our country – only the republic.

America is a different country than it was just five years ago.  America was still a constitutional republic then.   Today, America is a socialist nation with Progressives/Socialists/Marxists in control of our government and our economy.  The nation is broke and on the cusp of total collapse.  And we are being lied to by our leaders on a regular basis. They don't even seem to mind when we catch them in a lie, anymore.  

They are lying to us about the destruction to our healthcare system by Obamacare which is nothing more than socialized medicine of which Vladimir Lenin, himself said:  "Socialized Medicine is the Keystone to the Arch of the Socialist State." 

They're lying to us about the number of unemployed persons in America.  An honest assessment of unemployment in America, I believe would render a percentage closer to 21%.

In my opinion, the government is not only lying to us, but they're cooking the books as well.

The plain truth is -- it is going to get a lot worse over the months ahead.  We are beginning to get those manufactured "glowing reports" on Obamacare designed to hide the fact of its failure and how badly it has already hurt Americans and the country as a whole. We can expect a general bump upwards in the economic stats, which will be designed to point to a "continued" recovery, as we approach the election in November.  Don’t believe them.  It will be manufactured propaganda -- nothing more. 

What we are seeing in America’s economic decline today is what always happens when socialists, somehow, gain control of a nation’s government, and/or a nation’s economy.  It dies. Eventually that nation dies just as America is doing.

Can America be saved?  I doubt it. 

Understand, dear reader, we don't really know just how bad things really are -- and we won't know, until we clean the government of the  miscreants now in charge.  Sadly, even if the GOP gains control of the US Senate at the polls in November the damage already done the country will take decades to repair.  Such is the virulence of Socialism/Marxism.   

The country we knew as little as a decade ago no longer exists. How do we bring that country back?  Can we? Frankly, I am not sure it can be recreated.   

Will we be able to work past the anger, the suspicion, the lack of trust Americans have for one another today. We will have to fight the urge to split apart into more than one country. We may also find that instead of a single country, always at war with itself, the states may decide to split into two or three coalitions or confederacies, or, dare I say it… countries. 

America is united in name only today. If we are honest with ourselves we will admit that America is, at the very least, two countries existing under the banner of one nation.   

First, however, we must stop America’s slide into oblivion.  Then we can decide who and what we want to become.  Even before we do anything we must accept the fact that America, as a constitutional republic, no longer exists.  It may be gone forever.  I sincerely hope not.  I hope Americans will decide to recreate America as its original founders intended.  But, we must face the fact that THAT is not likely to happen.

America exists today as just another socialist nation along with its counterparts in Europe.  It is a completely predictable end for a nation, which deliberately chose ignorance of its history and of its government. 

Ignorance brought America down. There is no other reasonable explanation for the government we have in Washington, DC, today!
