Surprised? Your shouldn’t be! The US is going to strike Iran, and strike Iran hard, … and very soon!
There is no way President Bush is going to leave office with Iran’s nuclear facilities intact! He does not want that on his conscious nor a part of his legacy.
But, I foresee a problem. A problem which got the US into trouble in Iraq. It is the so called Iranian “velvet revolution” expected, and hoped for, by the US politicians and diplomats, as soon as US bombs begin pounding their country. It is not going to happen any more than it happened in Iraq. Nothing will coalesce a people any faster than foreign bombs falling on their country and killing their fellow citizens.
OK, then what do we do? We bomb Iran. Or, we assist Israel in bombing Iran. In any event, Iran is going to be bombed! That is a given.
Now comes word that Israel has served notice on the White House that America has six months to take care of Iran... or Israel will go it alone... and do the deed themselves. The simple truth is... we can't leave Iraq until we emasculate Iran. If we do not... then the minute we leave Iraq, Iran will march across the border and take Iraq. If you think we have a mess in Iraq now, as Al Jolson said: "You ain't seen nothing yet!"
The likeliest scenario is a combined raid on Iran by the US and Israel. And we will likely see the first use of nukes since the Second World War. The "bunker buster" bombs the US has, and Israel is rumored to have, are low yield nukes. To get to the bunkers, where the Iranian nuclear facilities are located, it will take the strongest bunker busters we have... and those are the top of the line.
If you are trying yourself up in knots of angst over this long drawn out war, get used to it. We are involved in a multi-decade war. A 50 year war would be a conservative estimate of the length of this global conflict. Plus, please stop looking at Afghanistan and Iraq as "wars" They are not. They are two different "fronts" in the War on Terror, or the War against Islamofacism.
We have only just begun this global war. Before we reach the zenith of the conflict we will need a much larger military. I expect the draft to begin again before too many months pass (especially if Clinton wins the Presidency). This time the draft will include young women as well as men.
So fasten your seat belts, the Global War on Terrorism is about to get even wider... and much more fierce.
