This War Didn’t Begin in 1948! Oh, NO!
Two half-brothers, sons of an old fellow, from a place we now call Iraq, began this mess many ce
nturies before Christ.
Contrary to what we are being and told… and our young folks are being taught; the Arab/Israeli problem did not have its start in 1948. Far from it. The origin of this on-going battle, between half-brothers, dates back to Abraham, Sarah, (Isaac’s mother), and Hagar, (Ishmael’s mother).
I have "lifted out" some scripture verses below to illustrate the story, as it appears in the story of the children of Israel. To get the entire story on the origins of this conflict, even to the battles, which have erupted this past week between the half-brothers, Abraham’s children, we recommend you read the two chapters of Genesis… 16 and 17. Once you have done that, you will have the background on the everlasting war between Abraham’s kids. You will also see the hopelessness of any country, including the US, reaching a lasting "peace agreement" between the two.
It is today, just as scripture declared...that Ishmael’s children would have their hand against everyman and everyman’s hand would be against them.
Don’t believe me? 
Look at today’s newspapers. There it is. The story starts on the pages of Genesis and continues on the pages of the New York Times.

Now Sarai, Abram's wife, bore him no children. The LORD dealt with Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as he had promised. Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham gave the name Isaac to his son whom Sarah bore him.

The child grew, and was weaned; and Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. But Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, playing with her son Isaac. So she said to Abraham, "Cast out this slave woman with her son; for the son of this slave woman shall not inherit along with my son Isaac." The matter was very distressing to Abraham on account of his son. But God said to Abraham, "Do not be distressed because of the boy and because of your slave woman; whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for it is through Isaac that offspring shall be named for you. As for the son of the slave woman, I will make a nation of him also, because he is your offspring." So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, along with the child, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered about in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

In closing, let me disabuse you of any thought that the conflict between Israel, and her Arab neighbors, will be ended anytime soon. It isn’t going to happen.
There is only one entity with the ability to stop this fight. He is expected, well, any time now.

Now that Israel has crashed through the door, we have an unbelievable open door to flood the Middle East with the military forces of the US, and any coalition nation, which wishes to participate.
Now, maybe we can get serious about ridding the world of the wild-eyed fanatics known as Islamofacists.
We have the two strongest, most capable, armed forces in the world, forming a pincer maneuver around Syria as I write this. US forces could move west and Israeli forces move east.
I don’t see our politically correct Congress supporting such a move, however. Now, very soon, the cries of “it’s too much” will be heard in criticism of Israel for defending herself. Some of the loudest cries of criticism will come from the American Left. The poor hand wring weenies of the Left got the world into this mess in the first place!
For a few hours Friday I was hoping that the world would come to finally see that the Islamic nuts want us all dead! (Every last one of us not already Muslim.) But no… by lunchtime, the UN was weeping tears for the poor terrorists and the Euro-weenies were weeping and wailing that Israel was picking on those poor people and, “really, they should stop that and go home”. Utter nonsense!
As I write I can hear the News Channel in the background, on my TV, and true to form, the Dems are all over the news blaming Bush for the Israeli/ Hezbollah war.
I’m upset with Bush too, but not for the same reason. I’m upset that he hasn’t put the US Marines on alert to fly to Israel and stand ready to enter the fight along side the IDF. Come on, folks! That little iddy bitty nation is fighting OUR FIGHT! Every terrorist they kill is one less the US has to worry about! For God’s sake, Mr. Bush, don’t try to stop them… offer to help Israel!

I’m an old codger. When I was born FDR was President. So, I have seen ‘em all since. I have also tasted the different flavors of the government over the decades, too. I’ve watched the country win wars against Germany, Japan, the Soviet Union (Cold War), fight to a tie against North Korea and Red China, fail miserably in Viet Nam, beat the living daylights out of Saddam’s Republican Guards in Iraq one, and, now, I see our military restored to their leashes, in "Iraq Two", as they were in the only loss we have suffered, Viet Nam.
We are terrible “Nation Builders”. I think it stems from the fact that we have enjoyed our form of democracy for so long that we just automatically expect EVERYONE to want to have a democratic form of government. Well, in reality, that ain’t so!
As we are about to learn again, you cannot bestow freedom upon a people. That must want it so badly, they are willing to fight and die for it. They must invest their blood in it. That’s not happening in Iraq. We’re winning their freedom for them… and making a gift of it to them. That's dreadfully wrong. It will backfire as soon as we leave the country.
Either we are going to have to admit, to ourselves, that trying to build a democratic nation in Iraq is an abysmal failure, or, we have to prepare to be there for five or six decades to force freedom upon them for at least two generations! Even then, I suspect there will be a slide back into dictatorship.
We have arrived at a point in the “Iraqi mess” at which we have to face some hard truths and make some painful decisions. As an American, I never envisaged going into Iraq and conquering it, de-throning their leader, and then building a democracy. No! I envisaged going into Iraq, dethroning the leader, destroying their implements of war, and their war-making government… and leaving. I did not see then, nor do I see now, any benefit to be derived from remaining there, when it appears the attempt at building a democratic government, supported by the people of Iraq, is a mirage.
Now, if the US intends to build, and maintain, a huge military complex, in Iraq, as a forward base in the Middle East, I can supoort that. We are going to continue to go back and forth, to put down brush fire wars in the Middle East, for many decades to come. So having a forward base in Iraq is important and justified. But, we must be prepared to fight, constantly, for it. For it will be very much like unto “Fort Apache”!
Now, all this rambling leads me back to the point at hand. To do all this we must have a leader, a strong leader, who will “damn the torpedoes, and full steam ahead”! Anyone less strong willed would be "bull dozed" by the American Left and the Media, which is simply a part of the American Left.
And that, Dear Reader, is why we desperately need the “Cowboy” back.
Aussiegirl is correct. Conservatives want, and need a strong leader. Give us a strong leader and we will follow. Give us a weak leader and we will NOT follow. Conservatives are strong willed and energetic. Give us a leader and we will storm the gates of Hell itself.
But, we need that leader.

The "Southern Voter" is Looking for a Third Party Candidate for President.
The word is out that Giuliani has decided to seek the Republican nomination as the GOP candidate for President in ’08.
For those of you salivating at that prospect, let me assure you that Giuliani doesn’t stand “a prayer of a chance” of winning… period.
First... I have absolutely no doubt that he will lose the entire South. Every state. Without the South no candidate can win. No candidate should EVER WANT to win without the South. For should a presidential candidate win the office, without the South, his, or her, tenure would be pure hell for the four years, or eight years, he, or she, is in office.
As of this date, I see no front running candidate who can win the South in the primaries. It will be, decidedly, a choice between three lightweights… none of whom can win in a “head to head” race with a Democrat… except… Hillary Clinton.
Giuliani has some massive, insurmountable, problems working against him in the South. His positions on gun control, gay rights, … and… he is pro-abortion. Add to those three “career killers” the fact that he hails form the Northeast, and you have a formula for utter defeat.
John McCain is even worse. He insulted the South on his last campaign foray into South Carolina, and we have very, very, long memories. No need for an apology from McCain, it will not be accepted.
Newt has become too intellectual. We liked him as a bomb thrower. Plus, Newt is an artificial Southerner. A Pennsylvanian by birth, a Southerner only in as much as he had the good sense to move here many years ago (Or his parents did!) . But, Newt remains an outsider. He will get a smattering of support but not nearly enough to matter.
Southern voters are conservative. Both Democrats and Republicans are conservative in the South. Yes, there are degrees of conservatism and that’s where the delineation between Southern conservative Democrats and Southern conservative Republicans shows so well, IF you are experienced in Southern politics.
If, for instance, the Dems run those left wing candidates who support the loonies of the left wing blog community, the so-called “Netroots crowd”, they will surely go down in inglorious flames. In the South, they are looked upon as children, naughty children, at that. They will be ignored by Southerners… save for the knowing glances Southerners give each other… and the rolling of the eyes by conservative Democrats in the South. It will be a waste of time and money for the DNC to consider sending candidates of that stripe here, or supporting candidates, of that stripe, for a Congressional office representing a Southern state. Oh, sure, a small number will win, or come close to winning, but that would be in states with large municipalities… like Georgia, (with Atlanta) or Florida, (with Miami and other large cities) or Louisiana (with New Orleans) or even Texas. But those same states will not help the Democrats elect a liberal president. It’s not going to happen.
So, the long and the short of it is… BOTH parties have a serious problem on their hands come November of 2008. Who, among them, will the South vote for???
At the moment, it looks as if the GOP is going to run McCain, a sure loser. If they do indeed, run him, it will signal the GOP expects Hillary to be the Democrat nominee. She is the only Democrat McCain can beat. Now, I’m not basing that opinion on polling results; I’m basing it on knowledge of the Southern voter.
These days, when a group of Southerners gather, and the topic of conversation turns to politics, one quickly learns that Southerners are expecting a third party candidate to emerge, soon, who will represent the hopes and desires of the Southern conservative voter… both Democrat and Republican.
Immigration is HUGE down here. Securing the border with Mexico IS BEYOND HUGE down here. The war is HUGE down here. National Security is HUGE down here.
A third party candidate who can run on a platform of sealing the Southern border, rounding up as many of the illegal aliens, already in the US, (as possible) and deporting them, insuring the security of the American people, winning the war in Iraq, and not retreating, (or… as our Democrat friends like to say “re-deploying” our troops), continuing the research and development of new and better missiles to intercept the enemies incoming missiles, aimed at America and her people, will get the Southern vote. There is no doubt about it.
So, you can see that both political parties are in serious trouble in the South.
2008 is closer than one might think. There is little time for the Democrats and Republicans to make the adjustments in their respective platforms the South demands. But, if a fresh candidate should appear with no attachment to either party, and none of the baggage the two major parties carry. He, or she, has an extremely good shot. One thing is for sure. That third party candidate would, indeed, decide the election.

A Rip in the Fabric of the GOP Tent!
We Republicans have a growing divide in our party…the divide between Liberal Republicans and Conservative Republicans. I don’t include Moderate Republicans because, frankly, I don’t believe there is such a thing. Moderates, I believe, are simply Liberals afraid to take a stand.
Here’s the problem: Liberals want to compromise. They LOVE to compromise. Conservatives do not want to co promise at all. In fact we view compromise as losing. We conservatives had rather lose than compromise, period.
This trait has caused the Liberal Republicans to hate our guts and, believe me when I tell you, there is no love lost for Liberal Republicans in the Conservative Camp.
So, basically, what we have is… a big tent with two political parties underneath it.
This is not good for anyone... except the Democrats.
So, I propose the split of the Republican party. The Liberals may keep the name “Republican” if they choose and the new name for the Conservative Republican party would be: “The Conservative Party”.
I have said often, before, that I believe a Conservative Political party would draw conservatives from the Democrat party who feel they have no place to go now. I still believe that.
It is a fact that the electorate in America leans conservative… all the time. So… why not have a Conservative Party, as such? Makes all sorts of sense to me.
I do not believe we would be a three party system long. I am fairly certain the liberal Republicans would fold straight away, or join with the Liberal democrats… as they should, anyway.
Taking uncompromising stands is the hallmark of a conservative. That’s what we do. It’s how we got to be conservatives in the first place.
The Libs in the GOP really want us to be gone… they think. The problem, for them, you see, is… we win elections for the party. The liberal GOP, left to it’s own devices, cannot swing a single election. Soon there would be no liberal Republicans in the House or the Senate. I can’t help but feel that would be a good thing for the Party and the country.
Conservatives know what they believe and they can articulate it well. They aren’t good at nuance, or shading their beliefs, in any way. You ask Conservatives a question and you will get a direct answer. No flip-flopping. Unlike Liberals who are with you at the beginning of a war but flee at the sound of the first gunshots, Conservatives stay for the entire war… period!
We can be defeated… but not easily. As things are today, the GOP is continually on the edge of defeat. A Conservative Party would stay away from the edge.
I fully expect to see another party develop in the next few months, which will field a candidate for President. It will be a conservative party. If that does, in fact, happen... it may well, put an end to any chance the Republicans have of holding on to the White House in ’08.
The rash of conservative themed bills in both Houses of Congress, recently, is only the GOP’s attempt to stir us up and prime the conservative pump in readiness for the next two elections.
The bottom line is this: Conservatives are fed up with being used to win elections and immediately afterwards being dumped. We don’t like it. We feel if we had our own party, we could do even more than the GOP allows us to do today. We feel we could eventually capture the seats held by Liberal Republicans in the Congress and in the White House.
So, give us the party. Give us a party named “The Conservative Party” and we will flock to the banner. I’m ready! How about you?

Reparations for Slavery Equals Blackmail!!!
The Reparations Movement is a shakedown of the citizens of the United States. Plain and simple! It has one goal and that is to squeeze as much money out of guilty liberals as is humanly possible. Liberals with their boat loads of guilt are lining up to fill the coffers of those sharp enough, and smart enough, to strike the ever willing liberals in their exposed bleeding hearts!
Look, this is utter B.S.! There is, I dare say, NOT a single human being alive today who is NOT descended from slaves. White, black, red, yellow, the color of one’s skin makes no difference. At one time all of our ancestors were slaves! Heck, we even have European countries, and Europeans themselves, whose very names and race is/are derived from the word SLAVE (Slav). Oh, by the way, those folks are white.
And another thing… who has to pay… and who doesn’t??? Does the white man, only, have to pay? Well, what about the Black slave holders, the Native American slaveholders, the Chinese slaveholders, and on and on. The largest slaveholder in the country, at one time, lived just a few miles from where I sit as I write this post. He was a free BLACK MAN!
Do not try to put a guilt trip on me! I have no guilt for slavery in the US, or anywhere else. It was an accepted practice at the time. If you just can’t live with yourselves unless you bemoan the wickedness of the folks in the early periods of this country owning slaves, then you must allow for their reaction to the immoral practice of abortion in this country today. How do you think they’d react to modern America’s murdering of unborn babies?
Now, those of you who swear that the "War of Northern Aggression" was fought to free the slaves, (It wasn’t by the way) wouldn’t you think the price has already been paid in the blood of Northern Soldiers on the battlefields of this country. Nearly 650,000 (both Sides) men gave their lives in that struggle. I tell you now, that had thousands of men given their lives for my freedom, I’d be ashamed, embarrassed beyond belief, to ask for money on top of the blood they spilled for my freedom.
Now, as a Southerner, one who studies the history of this country and the “War of Northern Aggression”, I can tell you, without hesitation, that the SO-CALLED Civil War was not fought to free the slaves. It was fought, as Lincoln said: to Preserve the Union. The Northern armies invaded, conquered, and occupied the country of my ancestors. (The CSA) Then they proceeded to destroy, that which the war had not already destroyed, during their so-called Reconstruction period.
The South was NOT invaded to free slaves. The South was invaded because the South wanted to be free of an oppressive, overbearing, Federal Government, much like we have today. THAT’S WHY the South was invaded! For a short span of four years the South WAS free… ruled only by her people and the voice of her God!
If you think I’m angry about this, you are damned right I am. I had to back away from the computer and take a breather to get myself together in order to continue.
Look, the Emancipation Proclamation freed NOT A SINGLE SLAVE!!! If you doubt me, look it up. Then read it carefully and it will become obvious, before you ever reach the end of it, that the document was meant to create foment in the Confederate held territories and… no slaves were freed by it. None were ever meant to be!
When the hostilities broke out, in April of 1861, the two cities in the country with the most slaves, per capita, were Charleston, South Carolina, (The Holy City) and New York City!!
If the war had been about slavery, why wasn’t New York invaded and the slaves set free?
When news got out that Lincoln was going to institute a draft, to gather men for the US Army to go South and free the slaves, there were draft riots in New York as have never been seen before. Northern men declared, openly, they would not fight to free the black man. They set buildings aflame and hung black men from lampposts along the avenues of that city.
Illinois, yes, the Land of Lincoln, was a slave holding state!
I am past being tired of having the albatross of slavery hung around the neck of the south! SLAVERY WAS LEGAL, IT WAS CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED, and it was practiced by both northern and southern states.
I will not condemn the folks of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, of America, for taking part in an accepted practice, a legal activity. I will not. I can’t. I’m not that GOOD! I live in an America where unborn babies are killed by the millions. That forever taints me.
So, unless you are looking to be insulted do not approach me about supporting Reparations for slavery. If you want to take advantage of some poor weak-minded liberals then, have at it. But, be prepared to be shaken to your roots when you approach a conservative. We see it for what it is and want no part of it!
How anyone can keep a straight face when demanding the ancestors of slaveholders pay money to descendents of slaves... when the slaveholder had committed no crime… is totally beyond me.
