Conservatives Launch Campaign For Free MARKET HEALTH REFORM

Conservatives for Patients’ Rights (CPR) today launched a multi-million dollar campaign to promote free-market health care reform solutions as the debate begins in Washington, D.C. The organization is led by Rick Scott, Co-Founder and Chairman of Solantic Corporation and the Founder and former CEO of Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation; a company he helped make into one of the largest and most successful health care providers in the world. The campaign will be a multi-phased, national grassroots initiative to educate the public about the necessary elements for meaningful health care reform.

“Any meaningful health care reform must be rooted in the patient-centric principles of choice, competition, accountability, and personal responsibility. Any program that doesn’t include these free market principles and has Washington bureaucrats making decisions instead of doctors and patients is not meaningful health care reform,” Scott said.

The CPR initiative launches today with a national advertising campaign including a three-week, $500,000 television ad buy on CNN and FOX News (in the DC market) and on popular radio talk shows hosted by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. The campaign will also target website readers at Politico, Real Clear Politics, National Review Online, and the Fox News website. The second phase of the campaign will focus on the effects of nationalized health care.

“Early indicators here in our country are deeply concerning. The stimulus bill included a national health board similar to the one in Britain that could potentially lead to bureaucrats making health care decisions rather than patients and their doctors,” Scott said.
