Obama and Amnesty for Illegal Aliens

Obama is jumping the gun on amnesty for illegal aliens in the United States. Yeah, I know he is in campaign mode.  But then, when is he not?

Pandering for the Latino vote will lose him votes from the Anglos.  So – keep it up, Mr. President!

By now, we all know that as long as Obama is in the Oval Office and the socialist/democrats are in control of the US Senate, there is no way the flood of illegal aliens north, across the US border, will be slowed, let alone stopped.

We predicted sometime ago that Border States would begin building their own border fences along their respective portions of the US/Mexico border.  Arizona has begun.

From the StarTribune.com comes this report: “Arizona lawmakers want more fence along the border with Mexico — whether the federal government thinks it's necessary or not.


They've got a plan that could get a project started using online donations and prison labor. If they get enough money, all they would have to do is get cooperation from landowners and construction could begin as soon as this year.


Gov. Jan Brewer recently signed a bill that sets the state on a course that begins with launching a website to raise money for the work, said state Sen. Steve Smith, the bill's sponsor.”   (You may read the entire article HERE.)

Governor Jan Brewer signed the Arizona fence bill back on April 28^th and it will take effect on July 30^th.  As soon as the website is up, we hope to be able to direct our readers to it.
The article goes on to say:  “Any type of fence would require approval of landowners, but Smith said he expects that to be forthcoming from the state and private land owners, including ranchers who have complained of break-ins and other trouble associated with smugglers and illegal crossings.”
 
Plans call for inmate labor to build the fence.  At 50 cents an hour, the cost of actually building such a fence would be considerably less than the federal government’s cost.
Does anyone actually believe the federal government when they proclaim the US/ Mexico border more secure than ever?  I don’t.


As to the accusation by Obama that Republicans would like a moat filled with alligators along the border – allow me to say that we folks here in NC would happily contribute as many Tar Heel “gaters” as we can catch and ship to the border -- ear marked, of course, for use in such a moat. 


Back in June of 2010 we noted that Obama was considering an executive order that would grant amnesty to illegal aliens.  At the time, we said:  “This ought to frighten every American to his/her core. Below is an excerpt from a letter sent to the President from a few republican members of the US Senate recently:

“Several Senators have learned of a possible plan by the Obama Administration that would provide a mass Amnesty for the nation’s 11-18 million illegal aliens. Led by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), eight Senators addressed a letter to the President asking for answers to questions about a plan that would allow DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to provide an amnesty if they can’t secure enough votes for a bill in the Senate.

The letter that was sent to Pres. Obama earlier today asks the President for clarification on the use of deferred action or parole for illegal aliens. The executive actions are typically used in special cases and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but if 60 votes can’t be secured in the Senate to pass a mass Amnesty, the Administration may use the discretionary actions as an alternative.” (SOURCE)

That letter was signed by: Sens. Grassley, Hatch (R-Utah), Vitter (R-La.), Bunning (R-Ky.), Chambliss (R-Ga.), Isakson (R-Ga.), Inhofe (R-Okla.), and Cochran (R-Miss.).

Government Propaganda/Tracking Devices?

Like many men, I wear my cell phone in a holster on my belt.  It goes where I go and it remains in the same room in which I sleep every night.  If you want to know where I am… just find my cell phone. 

It is easy enough to track me as the phone emits a signal, which shows my geographical location, continuously, even now.  The only way I have found to defeat that GPS locater system is to remove the battery.

Up to now, when I didn’t want to be reached, I simply turned the phone off.  Now, however, with the federal government about to enter the business of contacting me whenever they want and knowing my whereabouts 24 hours a day, I will have to turn off the phone AND, I repeat, AND -- REMOVE THE BATTERY!

If you are still with me, enduring my paranoid rant, and you STILL don’t know what I am venting about, go HERE.

OK.  I’ll give you the short version:  The federal government is about to begin calling cell phones with what they believe are important messages about terrorism, weather, amber alerts, etc.  Why, heck, they’re going to call you when the President wants you to hear one of his pre-recorded messages.  Oh, JOY!

Look: I don’t trust the federal government. More so than ever now that the executive branch and half of the Congress is under the control of Socialists. 

We are in the early stages of the creation of a “police state” in America. “If you see something – say something.”  Rat on your neighbors and your government will thank you.  And now we arrive at a point in this downward spiral of freedom at which the federal government will be able to track us without the fabled chips under our skin.  They may simply use our cell phones, which most Americans seem to have grafted to their ears.

You may think this is a case of paranoia, if you choose, but we warned this was going to happen, rather a long time ago, in our previous scribblings.  Now it is here. 

Just because you are paranoid – doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you! And when they are out to get you, paranoia is just darned good thinking!

I hope you have read the article to which we supplied the link above.  If not you need to do so now.  As you read … notice how you may opt out of the first two messages but you cannot opt out of a presidential message.  See that?  All American cell phone users must hear a pre-recorded message from “Dear Leader Obama.” 

Allow me to ask: If we can opt out of the other two messages, why, in the dickens, is it so darned important to install this system in the first place?  Oh, the answer is simple – so we can all be blessed by the sound of our Dear Leader’s supreme oratory telling us what a GREAT MAN he is and why everything he is doing is for the CHILDREN and for our own good.  Jeez, I HATE THAT!  I am fed up with the mealy-mouthed hypocrisy of the socialist-democrats.  Their condescending “Bovine Scatology” has been made into an art form for use against the weak-minded followers of their political philosophy.

What we have here -- is NOT a failure to communicate, but a federal government propaganda machine.  We are beginning to look more and more like World War Two Germany under the Nazis -- only hi-tech.

This just another freedom being taken away.  Which freedom?  The freedom to just be left alone!  It is the reason my Confederate ancestors went to war against a repressive US government.  They wanted only to be let alone to run their own affairs.  So do I.  So do millions of Americans. But the same US government that rained death and destruction down on the Confederacy has now reached heights of repression even the southern Americans of the 1860’s could not fathom.

Just a few weeks ago, when that swarm of tornadoes swept through my state, North Carolina, a few minutes after the storm had passed, our phone rang and it was the 911 center telling us to be alert we were under a tornado watch!  See how efficient and effective that can be.  It was, and is, totally useless! 

So, I am done with cell phones.

Look, America.  Our federal government has grown entirely too big, and too intrusive -- by far.    And believe me when I say, they have only just begun to get into our business.  

When that “accursed ObamaCare” kicks in, the federal government will be able to enter our homes, without a warrant, to insure our compliance to federal mandates.  Did you know that?  No part of our life: living, eating, sleeping, recreating, sexual intercourse, raising the resulting children, schooling those kids, what you eat, what you drive, where and how you drive, what you wear, which church you attend, and yes – how you VOTE! 

We won’t need two political parties; we will have only one – the socialist/communist party …  you know, like the old Socialist Soviet Union in what we know today as Russia.

May God help us, America, because we are just too dumb to help ourselves.  History will record the suicide of the great United States of America right alongside the exact same story of that other great nation, Rome.  America is following every twist and turn the Romans made on their way to ruin as though it were a road map.  And it is a road 

map – to destruction.

Uh-oh.  My phone is ringing.  Could it be Obama?  ALREADY?  Gotta get the cussed battery out of that thing!

Even Pakistanis do not believe that their political and military leaders did not know bin Laden was living, as one columnist put it, “wrapped in the bosom of the Pakistani security establishment.”

Cyril Almeida, writing in the Pakistani newspaper, Dawn, a few days after the killing of bin Laden noted that, when the question is asked privately, “No one will say anything but, yes, they knew he was there.”

For 34 of its 64 years, Pakistan has been run by generals whose military intelligence presumably works in league with its Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI), though both have their own agendas. It is unlikely that much civilian control over either exists.

Almeida wrote, “If we didn’t know, we are a failed state; if we did know, we are a rogue state. But does anyone believe they didn’t know?”

If it were an individual, Pakistan would be diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic, subject to raging fears that India intends to invade on a moment’s notice and antagonistic to Afghanistan as it harbors those who attack it.

In his recently published book, “Pakistan: A Hard Country”, Anatol Lieven provides insight to a nation that, until lately, was home to the most wanted man on the face of the Earth, Osama bin Laden. He was dispatched in a compound that was within a short distance of Pakistan’s equivalent of West Point or England’s Sandhurst. If we are to believe Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership, neither had any idea he was there.

“Trying to understand Pakistan’s internal structures and dynamics is complicated,” writes Lieven. “If there is one phrase which defines many aspects of Pakistan…it is ‘Janus-faced’: in other words, many of the same features of Pakistan’s state and government which are responsible for holding Islamist extremism in check are at one and the same time responsible for holding back Pakistan’s social, economic, and political development.”

“Pakistan,” writes Lieven, “is divided, disorganized, economically backward, corrupt, violent, unjust, often savagely oppressive towards the poor and women, and home to extremely dangerous forms of extremism and terrorism.”

Pakistan came into being in 1947 when leaders of India’s Muslim population like Mohammed Ali Jinnah, its founder, made it clear they did not want to be part of the newly independent India after Great Britain relinquished its colonial rule. Later, when East Pakistan broke loose to establish its independence in 1971, it became Bangladesh.

The thing Westerners find difficult to understand is the tribal nature of nations like Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it is not difficult to understand “Muslim nationalism and the bitter hostility to the U.S. role in the Muslim world in general and Pakistan’s region in particular.” However, in order to pursue the present combat role against the Taliban in Afghanistan, the U.S. and its European allies rely on neighboring Pakistan in order to provision supplies to their troops.

Since the Taliban are a creation of Pakistan’s ISI and because Pakistan has long been where al Qaeda has found refuge, those in charge have played a Janus or two-faced role for a very long time; at times providing intelligence of great value and at others aiding or at the very least, protecting the terrorist organizations. In return, the Taliban have proven an internal problem for the military and the government, occasionally requiring that they be driven out of areas they have seized.

In many ways, Pakistan is barely a nation. In its tribal northwest regions, such as the now fabled Waziristan, the state has little influence or control. As to its tribes, the two dominant ones are Punjab and Pathan. Both pursue their own interests.

As Lieven describes it, “A fundamental political fact about Pakistan is that the state, whoever claims to lead it, is weak, and (the) society in its various forms is immensely strong.” It is a nation of many separate fiefdoms who “plunder the state for patronage and favors” and this is graphically demonstrated by the fact that “barely one percent of the population pays income tax, and the wealthiest landowners in the country pay no direct taxes at all.”

Thus, the billions that the U.S. has pumped into its economy take on a very critical role, particularly for the military. This is a very different world from that of the West. The majority of Pakistan’s political parties are dynastic, led by a few powerful families. The entire society operates on kinship loyalty.

Pakistan is a perfect example of why the U.S. and the West are stymied by the illogic, the irrationality, and the duplicity of nations in which Islam is the predominant factor in their politics and society.

When you add in the geography of Pakistan, lodged between India and Afghanistan, bordered by China and Iran, you have a nation that can neither be ignored nor abandoned because of its strategic location.

Finally, there is the fact that Pakistan has a nuclear arsenal that must never be allowed to fall into the hands of the Taliban, al Qaeda, or anyone else crazed enough to use it for the greater glory of Allah.

Pakistan is a pit of deception and it is notable that our current relations with it consist of the special operations raid that killed bin Laden and the drones that continue to kill al Qaeda and Taliban who make themselves available targets.

This is Confederate Memorial Day in North and South Carolina

This is the day (May 10^th) set aside in my Carolinas to remember the bravery, sacrifice and honor of the men who wore the gray … the Confederate soldiers … OUR Confederate soldiers.

Let’s understand at the outset -- the US Constitution of 1861 did not forbid Secession from the Union.  That is a fact.  What the Confederate men did was perfectly legal. 

Nobody, north or south, thought Lincoln would sacrifice the lives of over 600,000 men in a war against his own countrymen. 

Now understand, that as the victors in the war, the North wrote the history books.  And therein lies the reason so many Americans have no idea why the Southern people went to war, nor what made the Southerner even think he had the right to pull out and form another nation. 

On the other hand what made Lincoln willing to do such a thing?

They tell us today that the war was fought over one issue.  Slavery.  That is a bald faced lie.  It is the Great Lie of American history.

When the census of 1860 was completed it was found that only 8% of Southerners owned slaves. That’s just Southerners.  Remember, slavery was legal in the entire country and the north not only ran the slave trade but they bought and sold slaves and kept slaves just as Southerners did.  In fact, at the beginning of the war, the two cities in America with the most slaves per capita were Charleston, SC, and New York City!  So, do not buy into the purity of the northern states when it comes to slavery.

There were many reasons Lincoln felt he could not allow the Confederate states to leave the Union.  But there was one reason, which dominated them all.  Simply put:  Lincoln could not allow the Southern States to leave the Union because the Southern States paid the bills of the United States of America!

In the early 1800’s, especially the 1820’s, when the federal government needed money -- it simply raised taxes on the Southern states!  Not the northern states… just the Southern states! 

In 1860 only 1/3 of the population of the United States lived in the South.  Yet the South paid over 70% of the taxes collected by the federal government.  And what did the federal government do with all that money?  They put it in railroads and canals and other infrastructure in the NORTHERN STATES.  There was a constant out-flow of Southern money going into the north from which the South received nothing.

The South warned the government that at some point we would have to secede just to save our economy!  They paid no attention to the complaints from the South.  And Congress turned a blind eye.  The South, seeing no alternative, seceded, and formed it’s own country.  

Then the North invaded.

When the war broke out the north had 20 million people.  The South had barely 6 million. Oh, and by the way, the north had a black population of 250,000… many of whom were slaves.

The north already had a government, which the South had to create.  The north had an Army, a Navy, tremendous manufacturing capability, and economic ties to the rest of the world.  The South had none of those things. To say the South was at a disadvantage was more than just an understatement.

The north had 71% of the population, 72% of the railroads, 81% of the bank deposits, and 85% of the factories.  During the course of the war, the north had 2,800,000 men in uniform while the South had, at most, only 800,000. 

Why in the world would an army of less than a million men -- poorly fed, poorly equipped, and half naked -- have the temerity to even THINK they could successfully go to war against an army over three times their size  -- and WIN? It is the indomitable, unconquerable, fighting spirit of the Southern People!  

Some say the southern fighting spirit accounts for the fact that every war America has been involved in… Southerners were in the middle of the fight doing their part. 

Did you know that Southerners won the Revolutionary War in the South?  Did you know that during the Viet Nam war 70% of the Medal of Honor winners were Southerners?  Did you know that nearly half the men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan today come from the 11 southern states of the Old Confederacy?  It is that indomitable, unconquerable, fighting spirit of the Southern People!  

Who WERE the Southern Americans of the 1860’s?  Well, by 1860, over 50% of Southerners were of Celtic descent.  Our ancestors were from Ireland, Scotland, and the hill country north of London, England.  Celts are renown for their history of fighting.  Long before Rome conquered and occupied England, the Celts invaded and conquered Rome!  Oh, yes.  At one point in history the Celts ruled most of what we know as Europe today. They are known as a freedom-loving, fun-loving, and hard-fighting people.  And they LOVE to be FREE!   So what does that have to do with the Confederate soldier?  Just about everything. 

When the Americans grew tied of the taxation of the British and the lack of representation in the British government for the colonists, it was the Southern American who led the charge for freedom from Great Britain.

In the1860’s it was the grandsons of the Southern men who fought Great Britain who then stood ready to fight another brand new world superpower for THEIR freedom. Their motives were the same in 1861 as that of their grandfathers in 1776.  Southerners were not willing to live under a repressive government and pay more taxes than was their fair share.

Many of the slaves of the 1860’s felt the South was their homeland, too. They had been born in the south.  Not only that… but many of them felt a need to defend the South and DID take up arms and fight alongside their white masters in battle against the northern invaders.  Many black Southern slaves died in battle fighting the troops of the federal government of the United States.  But … only the South gives THOSE brave black men credit for their valiant action. 

The Confederate soldier was the finest fighting man ever produced by any nation, at any time, in the history of humanity on this globe. 

The Confederate soldier did not fight for the spoils of war.  The Confederate soldier did not fight for additional territory.  The Confederate soldier did not fight because it was his job; he was not a professional soldier!  The Confederate soldier was not a REBEL.  At no time did the Confederate Army seek to overthrow the government of the United States… ever!

It is not simply a boast to say that the Southern Spirit was never broken.  Southern courage never faltered.  Even at Appomattox on that gray April day, when Lee surrendered to Grant, Southern soldiers, in the rags with elbows poking through worn out sleeves and knees poking through ripped and torn trouser legs begged the good general NOT to surrender.  Failing in that task THEY vowed never to surrender, themselves, but to take to the woods, and the swamps, and the hills, and continue the fight as long as it took… even if it took forever.  It was only at the behest of General Lee that those dedicated Southern soldiers furled their colors and grounded their weapons that day.  

No, the courage and determination of the South never quailed.  The Confederate soldier never questioned the Southern conviction that the SOUTH WAS RIGHT, even after Appomattox.

 The Confederate soldier bore more suffering than anyone should ever be asked to bear.  At no place on earth have soldiers fought so bravely, and struggled more fiercely, to defend their homeland.  The numbers of dead and wounded Confederates was staggering. Sickness and death from disease was equally staggering. Yet, battle after battle they strode straight in the withering fire of the enemy often routing Union forces and gaining the victory.

How do you defeat an opponent with that kind of spirit and zeal and that kind of courage? As the Northern Army learned, you cannot defeat them in battle. So… you starve them out.

And that is exactly what they did.   Bill Sherman’s infamous March to the Sea was a part of the “starve them out” policy of the federal government toward the South.  For the first time in it’s history, the US Military went to war against the civilians of another nation.  It was the introduction of what we know today as “Total War.”  It was a scorched earth policy. Not only were the families of the South suddenly hungry, the Confederate soldier, on the battlefield, had even less to eat.  When Fort Fisher finally fell it was the death knell for the Confederacy.

The world has never known men who could, and would, fight as these men did.  Never before, and never since, have there been such brave, gallant, Knights of the South… and never before has there been an army, which could fight with the steel hardened determination of the Confederate soldier. Never!  They were dedicated to their cause as no soldiers before or since have been.

North Carolina lost 40, 000 of her men in that war.  In four years 40,000 North Carolinians left home to give their lives for Southern Independence and states rights.  Contrary to what you have been taught and told -- those men did not put their lives on the line to keep other men in bondage!

Even in the US National Cemetery at Arlington, Virginia, there is a monument to the Confederate Soldier. If you approach you will see an engraving on that powerful maker.  When you read the words, the impact of what those men asleep in our sacred Southern soil did will send chills up your spine and bring tears to your eyes.  It reads:

Not for fame, nor for place or rank,
Not lured by ambition, Or goaded by necessity, 
But in simple obedience to duty, As they understood it.
These men suffered all, sacrificed all, - Dared all and died.

The heroes of the South, we honor on this Confederate Memorial Day, deserve all the accolades and all the praise and honor we can heap upon them. Around the world stories of the valor of these men is told and taught.  Their battlefield tactics are taught in Military Schools around the world.  They are honored around the world.  Except… except… in their own country! It is a shame, and a disgrace, the way we have treated the memory of these men.

The Confederate Soldiers forged a trail of heroic deeds amid selfless suffering no other fighting force has ever equaled on this continent -- or elsewhere.  The Confederate soldier walked away from everything they had… to fight for the idea that their new country had every right to just be let alone. Just let alone.

When one seriously surveys the complete mess our beloved country is in today one has to ask … was the cause of the Confederate Soldier, indeed, lost, … or was it only delayed?

All over the two Carolinas, the Confederate Battle Flag, the battlefield emblem the Confederate soldier fought, bled, and died beneath, will be flying from homes, businesses, and all over cemeteries, large and small, in honor of our Confederate ancestors.  We honor their memory, their history, and our beloved heritage as a southerner. Their blood STILL flows in our veins.

When the final push comes to crush the free constitutional republic of America, I predict the last defenders left standing will be the tenacious descendants of the Confederate soldier.

The Marine Hymn says the streets of heaven are guarded by the US MARINES.  If true, then I would expect the heavenly ramparts and the gates of pearl, are secured by Confederate troops under the eternal command of General Stonewall Jackson.

A Nation Of Fools And Future Slaves

I count myself fortunate, and even lucky, to have born into the last generation of independent freedom loving Americans. That’s on the one hand.  On the other, I feel

depressed that my generation will be the first to see a free America voluntarily choose slavery as a way of life. 

As Americans look about them today, they can see the effects of just toying around with socialism: A nation in decline, a nation financially broke, a nation of people depressed, hurting, and angry, a nation deeply divided by the race baiting and class warfare imposed on them by a major political party in their grab for the power to rule America as the “elite class” in a socialist America.  We refer, of course, to the Democratic Party.

Slavery?  Yes!  Socialism is slavery to the state (and to those elite socialist politicians who will run your life from the cradle to the grave). Under the Obama Administration, it has already begun.  The evils of Pandora’s box can’t hold a candle to the evils of Obamacare.   

Socialism is the slavery of forced labor.  Americans will work for the government. I don’t mean the 48% of the American workforce who are on the government’s payroll. I mean 100% of the American workforce, which will be receiving those wages the government decides you need to exist and continue working at your government assigned job.

All the labor union demonstrations remind one of nothing more than the “useful idiots” Vladimir Lenin used to mock.  He was referring to westerners, including Americans, Who publicly and privately sympathized with the socialist movement in what would become the Socialist Soviet Union. He was, of course, right about one thing:  They were, and are, idiots -- and they were, and are today, useful to the cause of socialism and communism. This time, however, the targeted country is the United States.

Today, those of us in America who see what is happening to our country, to our freedom, to our future as a free country, are derided as some sort of alarmists.  To that, allow me to say:  “You’re darned right, I’m ALARMED!”  It is as clear to me as sunrise this morning that a free America will only be a legend to my grandkids.

I expect that in the not too distant American future there will be a time when those of us who pen such comments as these will be arrested as enemies of the socialist state of America … if we live long enough. As I have been spouting these kinds of commentaries and public addresses since I was a sophomore in high school, I expect they will have a lot to work with!

Socialism is a killer of nations.  It is a terminal illness that rots a nation’s core until it is hollow and then implodes in upon itself -- taking that nation’s society along with it.

Today in America we are awash in socialism.  There is Marxism, Leninism, Trotskyism, socialist feminism – and the Democratic Party. 

I mention ObamaCare above.  ObamaCare is socialized medicine … socialism!  Americans have no idea how much freedom and liberty ObamaCare will strip from the citizens of the USA.  But it’s coming -- and it will be startling!

Distressingly, I see no pushback against the steady encroachment of socialism in America. Make no mistake about it, socialism is on the march in the USA and we will awaken one morning to find that America is no longer a free country but a slave nation shackled to a socialist government… and even sadder, Americans will have no idea how America came to be socialist.

Even now the chains are being forged for America’s enslavement.  The foundry is working 24/7 turning out the bonds that will hold a nation of once proud, free, Americans. 

Well over one-third of our national government is already socialist … the executive branch.  One half of the Legislative branch, the Senate, is controlled by socialists, and the Judicial branch is very close to falling under the control of socialist sympathizing justices.

Do you begin to understand the threat America is living under today?  I hope so, because the change from freedom to slavery is going to be rapid and startlingly complete. 

A re-elected Obama will be free to stoke the furnace and boost the speed of America’s enslavement.  He has no opposition, to speak of, in his bid for re-election. The loyal opposition has caved.  They will not field a candidate with a snowball’s chance against Obama; instead, the GOP is eyeing the 2016 election.  THAT, in my view, is a sell-out of the American people who yearn to preserve what little is left of our free nation.

 Confused visitors will be forgiven for thinking Oregon State University is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Congressman Pete DeFazio and the “progressive-socialist” wing of the Democratic Party. Or for likening what’s going on there to political retribution as practiced in Third World thugocracies.

The idea that three outstanding students – PhD candidates at OSU – could face dismissal, and worse, shortly before receiving their degrees, is simply shocking. That this could be happening because their father had the temerity to challenge an entrenched 12-term Democratic congressman (and OSU earmark purveyor) could make people think the university is in Zimbabwe, not America.

Dr. Art Robinson is president of the nonprofit Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, on the family farm in southwestern Oregon, 180 miles from Corvallis. OISM focuses on biochemistry, diagnostic medicine, nutrition, preventive medicine and aging – and improving emergency preparedness and basic education.

After his wife died in 1988, Robinson raised and home-schooled his six children – all of whom became remarkable scholars, collaborating on research and a popular DVD series on math and science for home-schooled students and their parents. Five of the children have BS degrees in chemistry; one a degree in mathematics. Two earned doctorates in veterinary medicine; one a PhD in chemistry.

The three youngest are all at OSU, working on PhDs in nuclear engineering. They entered the field at a young age, helping their father write and publish the “pro-science, pro-technology, pro-free enterprise” newsletter, Access to Energy, which explains and advocates nuclear energy.

Dr. Robinson is well known for the Oregon Petition Project, which says “there is no convincing scientific evidence” that humans are causing “catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere” or disruption of its climate. It urges Congress to reject the Kyoto global warming agreement – and has been signed by more than 32,000 Americans with university degrees in physical sciences (including yours truly and over 9,000 PhDs).

The petition, and Robinson’s support for DDT in combating the malaria pandemic, drew anger and outrage from the political Left, climate chaos industry and “mainstream media,” giving him his first brush with the politics of personal destruction. But it did not prepare him for the lengths and depths his opponents would go to “discourage” his political activities.

With our nation drowning in debt, energy prices skyrocketing, and unaccountable pseudo-scientific agencies like EPA and Interior hobbling economic growth with endless delays and red tape, Dr. Robinson decided to run for Congress. As a scientist and thoughtful, Christian family man, with proven math and budgetary skills – he felt he could bring much needed expertise and perspectives to the House of Representatives.

He challenged DeFazio, who initially figured he would have a cakewalk against this political neophyte. But Robinson raised $1.3 million from over 5,000 individual donors (against DeFazio’s $1.5 million from special interests, MoveOn.org and other contributors), gave numerous speeches and ran a highly effective campaign. With polls showing his lead narrowing, an increasingly desperate DeFazio struck back.

Bristling with a sense of entitlement, the congressman ran print, television and radio ads, painting Robinson as a nutcase who would promote racism, put radioactive wastes in drinking water, end Social Security and Medicare, close schools, repeal taxation of oil companies and destroy Oregon jobs. With help from Rachel Madow and MSNBC, DeFazio claimed Robinson lived off Social Security in a survivalist compound and was funding his campaign with cash from money launderers and drug dealers.

Despite the libelous attacks, Robinson garnered a very respectable 44% of the vote – and promptly announced that he would run for DeFazio’s seat again in 2012. If the soft-spoken father of six thought DeFazio’s campaign had been in the sewers, what happened next beggared belief. Now the targets became Robinson’s three youngest children.

During the election campaign, OSU President Edward Ray and other faculty and administrators improperly used the campus to campaign for DeFazio and against Robinson. Then, almost immediately after the 2010 election, they launched a series of despicable and unprincipled actions designed to ensure that Joshua, Bethany, and Matthew never receive their degrees – regardless of their outstanding academics, examinations and research, or the thousands of hours and tens of thousands of dollars they had invested.

Even though they have been working on their PhDs for almost five years at OSU, and have about a year to go, Joshua has been forbidden access to the equipment he built for his PhD work, while Bethany has been told she will be dismissed from school. Matthew, who turned down a nearly “full ride” from MIT to go to OSU, has been there for two years – but now is waiting for the ax to fall on his work, and on his thesis professor, Dr. Jack Higginbotham, who came to the students’ defense.

Nuclear engineering professor Higginbotham has been at OSU 24 years; he is president of the OSU Faculty Senate and director of a large NASA program on the campus. His inside knowledge of what the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Health Physics deans and certain faculty were doing to railroad the Robinson children made him Public Enemy Number One to the department Torquemadas who are trying to destroy his career and get him fired for his impertinence.

Right now, Higginbotham’s salary and career hang by a thread, preserved only by attorneys he has hired to protect himself from OSU attacks. The Robinsons’ studies have been severely disrupted. Meanwhile, however, public outcry in favor of Higginbotham and the students has grown in intensity, especially in Oregon, and a group of prominent alumni donors has offered to pay for the student’s remaining PhD work and legal costs to settle the dispute. (Higginbotham is a nuclear power guy; the culprits are in “nuclear medicine” and generally anti-nuclear power.)

Rather than being chastened, though, President Ray and his staff have refused even to speak with the alumni group. University administrators have become incensed that their actions are now public knowledge, and that alumni and other donors are vocally supporting Higginbotham and the children. Ray and his entourage have circled the academic wagons, stonewalled public inquiries and refused to talk to the Robinsons

They appear to think they own the university, and “academic freedom” means they are entitled to deny academic degrees to children of parents whose politics differ from their own. As more alumni join this effort, however, and the university’s reputation becomes increasingly radioactive, OSU appears to be wavering. Perhaps a dose of sanity may yet take center stage.

Oregon State is a prime example of what happens when educational institutions fall under progressive-socialist control, and dependency on taxpayer handouts from political overseers in Washington. DeFazio and his fellow congressional Democrats gave OSU a reported $27 million in earmark funding during the last legislative cycle alone. That’s $9 million per Robinson student denied a PhD.

No wonder President Ray and the Nuclear Engineering deans have given new meaning to “payback,” while DeFazio smirks in silence in the congressional office that he seems convinced should be his for life.

In depressing testimony to how far America has strayed from its Constitution and founding principles, we have reached the point where congressmen can lavish key supporters with tax dollars – and in return get votes, campaign contributions, rallies and volunteers on our campuses … and be assured of vicious retribution against the families of anyone rash enough to run against them.

US Congress:  Shut Off The Money To Pakistan

Stop Supporting US Enemies!

With the US Congress searching so diligently “in the round about” for ways to cut spending, we’d like to suggest the obvious:  Stop sending US money to Pakistan.  I am tired of US money propping up that rogue nation.

I have thought, for sometime now, that we are fighting terrorism in the wrong country.  The US military is in Afghanistan while all the terrorists are in Pakistan! 

There is absolutely no way Pakistan will ever convince the outside world (that is the non-Islamic world) that they did not know Bin Laden was living in a mansion some 35 miles from their capital city and roughly a half mile from their national Military College and Training Center.  They can pound their chests in mock masculinity, and feigned outrage all they wish.  Their ridiculous posturing only reinforces the belief in the west, and in the non-Islamic world, that they are flat-out lying!

The only way Bin Laden could have lived, as he did in Pakistan, is with a huge “support system” within the country of … Pakistan.  They KNEW he was there -- and they lied to us about it. That is reason enough for them to forfeit the billions of dollars of American money -- and British money, as well.

It was predictable that the demonstrations all over the Islamic world would begin upon the killing of Bin Laden.  He was their HERO!  Where else on earth is a mass murder proclaimed as a HERO …  so far as I am able to tell, only within the Islamic sphere of influence. 

So, out into the streets pour the bedraggled masses of “America haters” burning and desecrating the American flag, drawing more anger from the west upon themselves -- and their religion – “the religion of peace.”

Yes, the attack on Bin Laden was cold-blooded and deliberate.  That is what our elite Special Forces do.  And, may I note, the same will happen to Gaddafi, in Libya, when the US Special Forces are given HIM as their target.

Look, if you are fool enough, idiotic enough, to strike at America, you had better wrap your mind around the fact that sooner or later, your life will be required of you.  When you feel the safest, you will be most the vulnerable to the US military’s elite warriors. That goes for terrorists and for nations.  (See World War Two – Japan.)

Look.  All the billions we are spending on nation building in Afghanistan and Iraq will have the effect of pouring a teaspoon of salt water into the ocean.  It won’t be noticeable once US forces leave.  Iraq will almost instantly align itself with Iran out of fear and panic -- and who knows how much cash passed under the table to some fat cat national leaders.

Afghanistan will almost certainly fall right back into the hands of the Taliban or some other wild-eyed, quasi-religious, terrorist organization.  Hey, all they want to do is grow and sell … DOPE!

Winning the hearts and minds of a backwards people, still living in the 14^th and 15^th centuries, is some sort of left-wing babble that actually means, simply:  bribing a few of their national leaders to get their approval to build a new school, a new hospital, pave some roads, provide them a power plant for electricity, wells for clean water, etc, etc. And they HATE us for it!

The world, it seems, has forgotten that America can be your best friend – or your worst enemy.  I think that is mostly the fault of America’s recent leadership -- especially the leadership from the left.  Intent on having the world love America, they have forgotten the advantages of having the world FEAR America. 

What the world just witnessed is the awesome power of the US military – when it is allowed to do its job.   Unfortunately, we have had too many national leaders, over the past few decades, that have been intent on making the US Military into a branch of the “Peace Corp.”   Had they been allowed to ply their trade, as the world’s greatest warriors, those wars in Iraq and Afghanistan would have been over in weeks, if not days, with a heck of a lot less killed and wounded American troops.

Back to Pakistan for a moment:  If Pakistan is determined to hold onto our downed Blackhawk helo, then they should prepare for another raid aimed at retrieving our property and possibly changing the current Pakistani regime for a government a bit friendlier to America. It’s just a thought.  Yeah, that’s all it is.

In the meantime, as the diplomatic wrangling continues, the US Congress should immediately cut off all taxpayer money to Pakistan, forthwith. It is pure bribery.  Nothing more.  Frankly, it is embarrassing to Americans who are infuriated at a people, a nation, that gave sanctuary to the man who murdered thousands of Americans a decade ago, and who, today, is praised as a hero and a martyr by those who so eagerly produce their oily palms to grasp American dollars with which to line their pockets and fill numbered bank accounts in Europe and the islands of the Caribbean. 

The whole thing reminds one of “Ali Babba and the Forty Thieves.”  Only THE STORY was fiction.
