Saddam's Three Ring Circus!

The Saddam Hussein trial is turning out just as many of us expected. It has already become a 3-ring circus, complete with clowns.

As soon as Saddam was yanked from that spider hole in the ground, the play began.

For the next few months we will see the play unfold upon the world's stage of the various TV networks all across the globe. Saddam will milk it for everything it’s worth… and then some.

The prancing and preening of his “Defense Council” will be nearly equal to the boisterous braying by the old bull himself, Hussein.

Islamofacist propagandists and the political Left’s propagandists, as well as some brain dead American Leftist propagandist will shovel their own piles of manure onto the heinous crimes of Hussein in an attempt to sell them to the public as though they were French perfume.

The Islamofacists will proclaim the unfairness of the proceedings and will tell the world how the EVIL US is destroying the wonderful legacy of the Great Leader of Iraq. All the while the mainstream media of the world, print and broadcast alike, will lap it up and present it to the world in such a way as to make it seem, as nearly possible as they are able, that Hussein is, in fact, being tried unfairly and should be released and returned to power in Iraq. The palpable fear emanating from the common man, and woman, in Iraq has it’s source in that belief. They fear Hussein will be released.

The trial itself is a farce. It is a necessary farce, however. It is a foregone conclusion that Hussein will be executed at the end of these trials... whenever that may be. But in the meantime, this public spectacle provides a stage from which the political left and the Islamofacists will spew their doctrine of hate for the US and all things democratic and, let us not forget, all things Christian. Any number of us, on the political right, could have written the script for this play. For that is what it is… pure stagecraft.

The trials themselves will serve only to inflame the followers of Hussein and the Islamofacists to even more dread deeds of lawlessness aimed at intensifying fear in the masses of Iraq and the surrounding nations.

The US has played right into their hands.

There is only one way to remove this soapbox from the Islamic extremists and that is to immediately close the court to only those participating in the trials themselves. No cameras, no microphones, and absolutely… no press.

The instant the judge’s gavel dropped the Pandora’s box was opened. There is no way to close it again without damage to the democratic process in Iraq. It would seem that our diplomats have yet to learn there is simply no way to play fair and win in this war. Every extended hand will be pushed aside and the raw hatred, of our Islamic foes for America, will roll right over any effort to be just and merciful.

There is no need for this charade to ever have been forced upon the people of the world.

Justice could have been served quickly, and quietly, and only the body of Mr. Hussein produced for a quiet funeral with only witnesses present to confirm the identity of the deceased.

But no, the magnanimous nature of America has again stirred a hornet’s nest that need not have been disturbed.

Now, the whole world will be subjected to the awful, awful, theatre from the Middle East.

We just never learn… do we?

  2. An Iraqi timeline
January 2002: Bush says Iraq is part of the "axis of evil".

October 2002: Bush signs resolution authorizing him to use force against Iraq.

November 2002: Weapons inspectors arrive in Iraq. Bush tells NATO "War [with Iraq] is my last choice, my last option."

December 2002: Bush says Saddam Hussein is "not somebody who looks like he's interested in complying with disarmament."

January 2003: Weapons inspectors say they have found nothing that would prove Iraq has violated UN resolutions. Bush, in the State of the Union address, threatens "If Saddam Hussein does not fully disarm, we will lead a coalition to disarm him."

February 2003: France, Russia, and Germany propose increased weapons inspections for 120 days.

March 2003: Bush tells Saddam Hussein and his sons to leave Iraq within 48 hours to avoid military action, then begins "Operation Iraqi Freedom."

April 2003: UN weapons inspectors are refused permission to return to Iraq to search for weapons. US military forces find none.

May 2003: Bush flies by jet a few miles off the California coast and declares a phony "Mission Accomplished!"

2003 through 2005: More than 1000 US soldiers are killed, thousands more are wounded, while at home the Bush administration fights to reduce medical and other benefits for returning soldiers.

  3. I should have known there was no reasoning with your likes, sir. You have completely shut yourself off from the remainder of society.

Why do you suppose it is that we "hillbilly's", as you call us, do not find it necessary to become crude, and profane, to present our view.

I will allow the readers of these comments to judge for themselves where the superior intellect resides.

Best wishes to you, sir. I hope you find comfort and forgiveness.

  4. The War President
    3 years 8 months 8 days
    (1347 days)

That's the number of days between
    September 11, 2001, and May 20, 2005.

It's also the number of days between
    December 7, 1941, and August 15, 1945.

In the 1347 days between December 7, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was attacked, and August 15, 1945, when Japan ended World War II by signing an unconditional surrender, the United States ...

Worked together with the rest of the world.
Helped defeat Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria.
Provided unprecedented aid before, during, and after the war.
    Built strong alliances.
Earned the trust and the respect of what would later be known as the "free world".
In the 1347 days between September 11, 2001, when New York and Washington were attacked by terrorists, and May 20, 2005, what has the Bush administration achieved?

So far the the Bush Administraion has ...
Invaded Afghanistan (population 24,800,000 in 245,000 square miles of land mass -- by comparison, California has 33,800,000 inhabitants in 158,700 square miles of land mass).
Invaded Iraq (population 21,400,000 in 168,000 square miles of land mass).
Lied about Iraq's non-involvement in planning and executing the 2001 attacks in New York and Washington, then lied about the original lies.
    Lied about completing a mission.
Lied about weapons of mass destruction.
Misplaced millions of dollars flowing into Iraq despite predictions that oil from Iraq would finance the country's own reconstruction.
Neglected to pursue Osama bin Laden and let him escape.
Earned the distrust of most of the rest of the world.
Created a recruiting campaign and a traing ground for Al Qaeda.

  5. Frank: You must understand that the rank and file of the Republican Party totally discounts anything coming from the United Nations. It is an anti-American organization, of thieves, crooks, and brigards. Even it's name is a lie!

  6. In order to believe all that... you have to believe the President lied. We do not. In fact we know better. As Ronald Reagan said, "It's not that the Left is ignorant, it's that so much of what they KNOW is wrong!"

Had we used the A-Bomb in Iraq, as we did in Japan, to end WW-2 and,as some of us advocated, the war would have been over in hours.

  7. I guess there is point arguing with a Republican they can't learn anything. You don't like the U.N. but you're for economical globalization, pur president sign trade agreements that strip this nation of it's sovernty and that's ok. I wish I was ignorant, so I wouldn't be knowlagable to how this nation is being mislead by right wing media. If a democrat was accused of any of the things bush is accused of you guys would not quit, you'd be calling for impeachment. You just aren't objective at all. If this was Clinton (best president I've known) I'd feel betrayed by him.

  8. BRUSSELS, Belgium - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is prepared to address European doubts about U.S. practices in the war on terror during a gathering of NATO countries, her spokesman says.

Complaints that the United States has overstepped its bounds and may have practiced or condoned torture have dogged Rice through a four-nation tour this week.

“She’s fully prepared to have a good discussion,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said Wednesday.

    put bush on trial!

  9. It doesn't matter if he lied (and he did) He rushed to war on bad intelligence and needs to be held accountable for that.
It was his watch and he screwed up plain and simple. Dissent is the true sign of patriotism, it seems funny Republicans start wars and if you criticize or even question the reasoning behind it the idiot right wingers come out and attack. It is my patriotic duty as an American in a free society to question EVERY move my nation makes no matter who is in charge. There may be a better solution than the one being offered, we must not shut down free thought or speech in this country! We are not supposed to be a nation of "YES MEN".
