Fox News Channel... and the others.

Looks as though the cable network news channels have sorted themselves out and the winner, by far, is Fox News Channel. Sad to say, the others, are in various states of decline.

The three broadcast networks and the two lesser cable news networks have yet to grasp the simple truth that the country no longer trusts them. Their continued biased reporting, (overtly left-leaning) is a “turn-off" for most news viewers and that’s what they are doing: “turning them off”.

What is drawing such numbers to FNC? Simple, really. They actually make an attempt at balancing their news reporting. I understand that our liberal friends don’t see it that way, but, my opinion (as one who spent a large part of his life in the broadcasting business) is simply...the product of the broadcast networks, and the second and third cable news networks, is glaringly biased. What they feel is “balanced news" is actually "balanced" in favor of the "center left" view, rather than the true political center. They are extremely wide of the mark. Don’t take my word for it, look at the numbers. Viewers are voting with their remotes.

I’m a “news junkie”. I have this insatiable desire to “know”. As a result, I watch many hours of news a day, plus the Internet, and print media. I long ago switched to Fox News Channel as my ONLY TV news source. I haven’t even had CNN or MSNBC turned on in months! By watching FNC I can relax and listen to what is said, rather than constantly having to read between the lines, on the other newscasts, and filter out the leftist gibberish from the so-called “news reporting”. It really
is bad.

Anyhow, that is where their viewers went... to the same network I went to… and for the same reason. I do not believe they can re-invent themselves sufficiently enough to re-capture the viewers they have lost. Nothing short of a sell-out to another news organization will make any difference. A good house cleaning, and new owners, might give them a shot at claiming a respectable showing in the ratings. Without it, they have no chance of ever recovering.

Now, I hasten to add… this is only my opinion, and I have been known to be wrong before. But it sure doesn’t look good for the future of the other news networks.

In the meantime, I will stay with FNC, and the Internet, and a few foreign newspapers.

Your Obedient Servant,

“Longstreet”

  1. Wow you are nuts, cnn and the rest are corporate owned and conservative, look at Westinghouse, GE, Disney very conservative people, where were the downing street memos? Fox is nothing but cheerleading and throwing white-house spin on everything. Terrible.... But then again free press and strong labor unions are the only way of defeating facism.
