ISLAMOPHOBIA? Americans Have EARNED the Right!

Some are calling our objection to the UAE company taking charge of management of our ports "Islamophobia".

OK, I can live with that.

On the right sidebar of this blogsite you will see a slide show, which should explain the “Islamophobia” in America.

Frankly, I don’t care what you call it; the fact remains that a company based in a Muslim country will have charge of the port management of six of our major ports.

Isn’t it just a tad ignorant NOT to expect this kind of fear from a people whom Muslims have attacked many times, and, even now, vow to destroy? I must tell you. When someone tells me they intend to kill me and my family, I sit up and I take notice, and I do everything in my power to keep that from happening and… I sure as heck will not lend them a hand in my own murder, or the murder of my family, or my extended family, the people of America.

Somebody in the Administration really does have a tin ear when it comes to the feelings of the American people. This was, as I have said elsewhere, just plain dumb!

Call it what you will: Islamophobia, if that is your choice, I simply don’t care... and neither do the majority of Americans. We do not want a Muslim company managing the operations of our sea gates. We will not tolerate it and the politicians who support this dumb move will pay a heavy price at the polls in November… and in 2008.

Americans, for the most part have tried to smother their growing unease with the Muslim community among us. But it will only take a spark to ignite this barely controlled passion. Building a bonfire, as the Administration is insisting on doing, with this Port Management debacle, may turn into a conflagration that will burn throughout the nation.

All this can be avoided. It needn’t have happened in the first place.

Pull the plug on this deal and watch it circle the drain into oblivion. Put the US Military in charge of Port Management, until such time as they can train a willing American company to take charge.

This needs to be ended… now!

  1. I could not agree more! Put the military in charge of the ports. Life would be so much safer that way!

  2. For me, Mr. Longstreet,
I was appalled by the number of foreign companies in charge of all our ports PERIOD! I think that is just rediculous I don't care if they are Canadian, English, French, German, Isrealy, or what ever, our nations ports should be ran by AMERICAN companies. Like I said before I am a NATIONALIST and now one can look after ourselves better than ourselves. Why should our dollars prop up other nations economies and not our own!

  3. We might not agree on everything, but on this one we do...No fucking way do we want these people in charge of anything.

  4. It may not have mattered pre-war who managed the ports. But, now that we are in a war to the death, this is a serious, serious matter.

I think the US government should assume responsibility for Port Management and assign the actual task to the US Navy and ground security, at the ports, to the Marine Corp.

Don't misunderstand me. I am certain, at this point, that the President will get his way with this deal. That UAE company will eventually wind-up managing those ports. The Congress is simply throwing up a smoke screen for the benefit of the voters back home. Nobody, seriously, believes they can, or will, kill the deal.

  5. They can and should kill the deal! I do not agree with racial profiling, it is fundamentally wrong. BUT if we are going to do it at airports, subways, why the hell not with who is running our ports. I think this deal could be stopped but our senators and representatives don't have the stones to take W. out in a back alley for a little "talk" on the subject.

  8. Just so we're clear here: I have no problem with racial profiling during a time of war. (Which means... right now!)

If white Southern Baptists or Wisconsin Lutherans were blowing up our troops, with roadside bombs, or hijacking airliners and flying them into buildings, and threathening more incidents of terror in the US, then, by all means, stop, 'em and search 'em. Keep an eye on 'em. It is utter stupidity NOT to RACIALLY PROFILE! Hell, we know who the race of people are who want to kill us!

The Russkies used to say, if they gave America enough rope, America would hang herself. Sure looks like we are bent on proving them correct.

I think FDR was correct in what he did with the American born Japanese shortly after Pearl Harbor. We still have a lot of room out there in those deserts.

  9. Arab Emmirates is not a government but a company owned by eight different countries. Their interest in American ports is not to run the ports or to provide security, but to operate the loading docks. US Customs and the Coast Guard provide security.
At present, only about 6% of all shiping containers are inspected which leaves our enemies amply opportunity to do us harm through the ports.
Arab Emmirates operates the docks in English Ports, and the British are not only not concerned but seem to be well satisfied with the arrangement.
I too was shocked when I first heard the news but the more I have learned about the situation, the less concerned I've become.

  10. I have no problem with Muslims running our ports. I'm not sure if calling you a bigot wouldn't get my comment posted, since you seem to pretty much admit it proudly. The problem is that the company buying the ports is owned by a foriegn government with ties to terrorism.

  11. Adam: If calling me a bigot makes you feel better... go right ahead. As a Southern male, I am accustommed to such name calling. But, hear me... I dispise anyone who threatenss the safety of my family or my country. That goes from the Nuts with the white sheets and cross burnings to the nuts with a white turbins blowing up buildings and terrorizing a country.

If that makes me a bigot, then I plead guilty.

But don't worry, we people who call 'em as we see 'em will stand guard over you. We'll keep you safe, even at the expense of our lives, as we have done throughout the entire history of this country.

Don't bother to thank me. I understand that you have yet to see the debt.

Dale, the Brits were not concerned when their Prime Minister came from a visit with Hitler and declared "We have peace in our time. I do love the Brits, but like so many socialist countries, they are so very easily led around... and they do not like conflict, if it can be avoided. They will go out of their way to avoid a conflict. Americans have a history of meeting trouble head-on. So, we cannot look to the Brits for an example in this matter.
