Well, it would appear that Doctor Frist… uh… Senator Frist has stepped in it again. Selling stocks a couple of weeks before the bottom fell out, well, it just looks strange. It may be perfectly legit, but there are doubts and you can bet the MSM is going to explode those doubts into a major, major, problem for Senator Frist and… if we aren’t very careful… the Republican Party.
Already the MSM is billing Senator Frist as a possible Republican Presidential candidate. It would seem they neglected to ask the rank and file Republicans about that before they decided to run with it. Had they taken the time to talk with a few of us, not in DC, they would have learned that a goodly portion of us would never vote for Senator Frist. Why? We wouldn’t vote for Frist because of his awful lack of leadership abilities he displayed as Majority Leader in the Senate.
Senator Frist has made some gigantic fumbles while Majority Leader and it has cost him any chance of capturing the Republican nomination as our Presidential candidate in 2008. The recent problems with selling the stock have only put the last nail in the coffin of Frist’s political career.
We Conservatives mouth repeatedly about family values, about good character, and moral integrity. That can be very dangerous … if you’re a Republican. You see, everyone expects a Democrat to be, shall we say, of less that sterling character. (Bill Clinton secured that characteristic for Democrats for at least a generation to come.) But, Republicans do not have that luxury.
When we spout off about good moral character, we are held to the highest level of moral turpitude possible. Conservatives have glued themselves to the center of the bull’s eye. Pot shots come from all sides. When one of us slips, and falls, from our lofty perch, we are going to get hammered by the Left and by their minions in the MSM.
So, that is where we are with the Senator Frist problem.
The good Senator from Tennessee is not to be a senatorial candidate when his current term ends. Good. In the meantime time, it would behoove him to stay as clean, and shiny, as he possibly can.
We Conservatives often say that even the “appearance of Impropriety” is not to be tolerated in the Republican Party. That being the case, Senator Frist should immediately resign his position as Majority Leader in the US Senate and allow a fellow senator to take over the duties of that office.
Finally, a word to the other Republican Senators… This time, give us a good, solid, hard-charging conservative as Majority Leader, ya hear?
“Longstreet”
Yeah! Just think and witnesses even lied about Martha Stewart and the judge knew it and did nothing. Oh wait a minute she was guilty, guilty of contributing funds to Bill Clinton, BEST PRESIDENT in my lifetime!
ReplyDeleteWhere is Bob Dornan when you need him?
ReplyDeleteGood. Most of the Republicans I've talked to aren't big Frist fans. There are plenty of good candidates with a less spotty record.

ReplyDeleteIf you're right... I'll back you to the hilt.
If you're wrong... I'll get the rope and hang you myself!
