How will US Christians vote in November?
The short answer is… they will vote Republican. Not all of them of course, but those who are really dedicated Christians will vote Republican.
A couple of things are certain; US Christians continue to support the war in Iraq and the war against terror. The other is that US Christians will not vote for Mitt Romney in the primaries. Mr. Romney is a Mormon and many Christian denominations consider Mormonism to be a cult.
Now, understand there is a huge difference between referring to oneself as a Christian and being one. There is a huge difference between paying lip service to Christianity and living into it.
For instance the Democrat Party is the worst enemy Christianity has in this country. I don’t say that lightly. The Democrat Party stands for so much of what Christianity stands against. Many Christians left the Democrat Party, in disgust, when the Party supported abortion on demand. Another huge chunk of Christians left the party over the party’s support of gay rights. And the list goes on and on. The continued slander of Christianity, by the Left, insures they will not return.
The current brouhaha over the Florida congressman, and the page, is over the top and the Democrat Party’s drive to destroy the confidence voters on the right have in the GOP has sickened and disgusted the Christian community and they are even more set on supporting the party, which, at least, attempts to show some Christian compassion.
Now, before I’m accused of being “Holier Than Thou”, let me hasten to assure you I am nothing but an old Pharisee, myself and, on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the very best Christian, then I would come in no higher than a two.
And for those of you claiming that I am judging others when the Scripture, I put great store in, tells us to: “judge not, that ye be not judged”…. well, the scriptures do, indeed, say that. But, I would remind you that Christ, Himself, said: “Ye shall know a tree by the fruit it bears”. That eliminates a need to judge. And let’s face it, dear reader; there is a whole orchid up on Capitol Hill!
There is the big question: can one be a Christian and a Democrat… and… can one be a Christian and a Republican? I’ve seen the question phrased both ways. Let me just say that my personal brand of Christianity, will not allow me to be a Democrat, nor support the Democrat Party. In all honesty, I must admit that at times it causes me to re-evaluate my support of the Republican Party.
So, how will Christians in the US vote in November? My guess would be… they will vote as their Christian values require them to vote. If you are acquainted with Christian values… then, you already know how they will vote.

It is wrong to divide a free country upon religious lines. Religion and Politics do not make good bedfellows. I practice religion to save my soul, I use politics to save a nation.... a free nation, not one ruled by religious tyranny, it doesn't work in Iran, Afghanistan, it didn't work in the medeval ages and it won't work here and now, like communism it has been tried and failed miserably. The only difference between nutty "Christian" extremists and nutty "Islamic" Extremists is the name they choose to call God. "No laws not based on the Koran", sound familiar? Just keep drinking the cool aide ole' buddy and sell this nation right down the fundamentalists' toilet.
ReplyDeleteI can speak only for myself: I will vote character. That's intrinsically party-independent, but tends to lean Republican.
ReplyDeleteAmericans should be thankful that they live in a democracy were they have the right to vote on all aspects of Government that effect daily life, from President right down to Sheriff. In the UK I have four votes - local councillor, assembly member, Member of Parliament and European MP. I cannot even vote for a Mayor. Most would argue that the first three votes in the UK are useless as the European Parliament makes all the decisions.

Those of us who vote DO appreciate it. However, the vast majority who do not vote are, for all intents and purposes, "wards" of the government. They don't care who runs things as long as those who DO run things TAKE CARE of THEM!!
I never miss an election. I am concious of the fact that men died so I could have that priviledge. Men are STILL dying to insure that I keep that priviledge.
My friend, I was so sad to see the UK join the EU. Looking at it from over here, it looks like one huge socialist government thing.
We have some in our government pushing the same idea over here. They call it the North American Union. I don't like it and will fight it with my last breath.
Now, if Canada and Mexicao want to become the 51st and 52nd states, we might be able to accomodate them. But the NAU is OUT!
to Francis,
ReplyDeletePoliticians have NO CHARACTER. Any one who:
A.) cheats on his wife and then lies about it is a disgrace.
B.) uses BS intelligence to stir up the mass of idiots in this country to start his own illegal war is evil.
C.) uses the internet to meet minors and talk about sex with them is perverse.
D.) knowingly covers up said offenses is a partner to this crime.
E.) takes money from big corporations and turns their back on the citizens is a facist.
F.) uses religion as a "stepping stone" to get into public office does a public diservice to us all.
G.) tries to find a moral justification for killing unborn children, children on a battlefield, or even prisoners in jail.
I am not without sin, I can't prentend to be, neither can our "leaders". These guys bring down Christianity to its lowest common denominator.
and Longstreet I couldn't agree with you more on this point, "But the NAU is OUT!" an I wash my hands of all these pervese twisted politicians, If they run as men and or women fine, but when they try to appear saintly, when screw them all, and looking at the affairs of this nation, I think God has washed his hands of us too.
