Battle Royal! Bring It On !

President Bush took the rains in his teeth yesterday (10-31-05), and with both hands, he led an all out attack at the American Political Left with his nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to fill the vacancy on the US Supreme Court!

The weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth began almost instantly. Chuck Schumer nearly broke a land speed record getting to a camera, and microphone, to bewail this horrible attack upon “Mainstream America”.

Chuck, ole son, it gives me great joy to tell you that “Mainstream America” is not Liberal! Believe it, or not, Chuck, there is a whole lot of country outside the borders of New York! That “flyover country” you Libs see, from the “window” of you airliner, as you fly from the liberal northeast to the liberal left coast... all that country between those two points... IS Conservative Country!

The Bishop (of Liberalism), Teddy Kennedy, about had apoplexy! He is still blustering!

Finally, the battle we have been gearing up for will be joined! This will be a grand spectacle of democracy in action.

Alito will be confirmed. There will be a lot of sound and fury, but in the end, he will take his seat on the Court. A Court which will now have a decidedly rightward cant to it.

Now a little about Judge Alito:

Samuel A. Alito, Jr.

Samuel A. Alito Jr. (born
April 1, 1950) is a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His ideological likeness to United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia has earned him the nickname "Scalito."
Alito was born in
Trenton, New Jersey. He graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in 1972, and went to Yale Law School, where he earned a J.D. in 1975. From 1981 to 1985 he was Assistant to the United States Solicitor General, and was Deputy assistant to the U.S. attorney general from 1985 to 1987. After a brief stint as U.S. Attorney for the district of New Jersey, he was nominated by George H. W. Bush in 1990 to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His chambers are in Newark, New Jersey.
With the announced retirement of
Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor in 2005, Alito was widely reported as being narrowly passed-over as her replacement by the Bush Administration, having been edged-out by close personal Bush aide and confidant, Harriet Miers. With Mier's nomination retracted on October 27, 2005, speculation again surfaced of Alito's possible nomination to the post.

… and today, 10-31-05, we saw that possibility realized.

The President has made a dramatic comeback and now has his base onboard.

This is what the 2000 election, and the 2004 election, was all about… the Supreme Court.

Now, Conservatives will rally around the President and push this nomination through the Senate Judiciary Committee and through a vote of the full US Senate… even unto confirmation!

  1. You win, I am becoming a conservative.
You finally convinced me my whole thinking process was wrong.
I now know better thanks to Bushites and Rushites everywhere.
With their help I now the following to be true:

Insurance companies should make medical decisions about me and my loved ones, not our doctors.
I should be happy with the tax burden being shifted to me so those who are more fortunate than me can pay less in taxes.
I know that abortion is murder and execution is not.
I know that once a child is born, society now owes that child nothing.
I learned that it is ok to drink dirty water and breathe dirty air as long as someone made a profit in dirtying it.
I also learned that it is wrong to expect corporations to clean up their own environmental messes.
I know now too that corporations should have no liability for faulty or malicious products they bring to market.
It is also ok for corporations to write-off people’s livelihoods in the form of medical coverage and retirement plans if they fail to plan for future projected expenses but, an individual may loose their house if they are hit with unforeseen expenses.
I also learned you can start a war, mislead the public and the media, torture prisoners of war, roll back the constitution and lie to achieve all this, then lie to congress to protect yourself and be considered religious, but if you have oral sex in the white house with someone other than your spouse and lie in a civil suit about it you are immoral.
Religious leaders can call for the execution of a duly elected leader, but a citizen of the United States dare not join in any descent of his President.
I also know now that prayer in school is a must but the teaching of science and biology is wrong.
I want to thank all you Republicans for showing me all the misguided thoughts I had.

  2. Those who attack are declaring their "littleness" and turning away from the gift of "grandeur." See Our Holy Inheritance blog:

  4. Reference to Mike V. said:

Mike, that was righteous anger, not whining, aimed inward at our leader who had made a misstep. It was aimed at ourselves, at our Party. IT WAS NOT DIRECTED AT THE OTHER PARTY. A little self correction is good for a political party from time to time.

We're back on track now. But thanks for asking!
