McCain Cannot Win!

A nationally syndicated columnist predicted in his column today that the Republican and Democrat candidates for President would be John McCain and Mrs. Bill Clinton, respectively.

I have no argument with Mrs. Bill Clinton as the Democratic candidate. As a matter of fact, we Republicans are counting on it. We can beat her handily, at the polls, without breaking a sweat. On the other hand, a sure way for Mrs. Bill Clinton to win, is for the Republicans to run John McCain as our candidate.

Here’s why:

Conservatives will not vote for McCain. The Republicans cannot win without the conservative vote…ALL the conservative vote.

Personally, I would have a terrible time convincing myself to vote for McCain even with the disaster of TSFNY, Mrs. Bill Clinton, staring me in the face. It may become a question of honor. Honor will win… if it comes to that. I will not support, nor will I vote for McCain.

McCain is not considered a Southerner, for starters. Even though the Territory of Arizona seceded form the US and fought with the Confederacy during the War for Southern Independence, McCain, himself, does not reflect the Southern values so highly regarded in my section of the country. It is a lost cause for him to even try it.

Southern Conservatives are sitting on the fence right now. We are angry with the current Administration because of their mangled immigration policies and their failure to secure our southern border. We are very close to taking matters into our own hands, along that border, and begin patrols of armed citizens. This is the single most serous concern, short of the war, the South has. We are being over run and we want that border closed and sealed. Frankly, we’re not likely to vote for any candidate who does not promise to close, and seal, the southern border.

That said, Republicans would be well, advised to begin looking among the southern governors for a successor to Bush. We’re not going to vote for McCain.

How about Haley Barbour, Governor of Mississippi? He’s a rock solid conservative Republican and he is as sharp as a tack. Why not Haley?

I’m serious here. The Republicans had better find a better candidate than McCain. That is, unless they want Bill Clinton back in the White House! Perish the thought!

  1. BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN POST has been taken down for today. The content of this post was far more important. BROKEBACK will return tomorrow along with your comments which were placed upon it before it was taken down.

    Thanks,

  2. tHIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN COME UP WITH?!?!?!? How about Palestine telling us to stick it by electing Hamas to control Parliment. Boy I love it when Democracy works......

  3. What do you mean perish the thought, he got all the WMD out of IRAQ (remember desert fox?) without an injury to one american soldier. He had the best economy, energy prices were cheap, oh yeah and the World Trade Center was still standing! The U.S. was not spying on it's citizens. The Federal government was smaller and less intrusive, He was actually cutting the deficit. Watching the news was entertaining (all the republican led witchhunts that were all baseless.) I WAS NEVER PROUDER TO BE AN AMERICAN THAN THE DAY HE ACTUALLY WON AN ELECTION AND WAS NOT APPOINTED!

  4. I think I'll wait a year before I start to speculate on candidates. Who knows what idiot will look good a year from now in either party.

Of Course not! But, it is far and away more important than "Brokeback Mountain"!

Besides, who was "actually" surprized by the Hamas win? Now, we have an actual terrorist government. Now, Israel can REALLY clean their clock with little resistance from the US. Their terrorist activity, inside Israel, is now "Government Supported Terror". Makes a huge difference.

Of course, you are correct. Unfortunately the Dems seem to have established an eternal campaign for President! I too would like to wait, but I'm afraid we don't have that luxury anymore!

By the way, do I have the good fortune to be speaking to another Lutheran?

  7. My thing is right now I am just fed up with these lifetime politicians. Bush, McCain, Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Delay, etc.

The Libertarian and Constitution parties are looking pretty good right now. How about Colin Powel? He's not a lifetime politician. He's a former general which could help us in the War on Terror. He had the insight to tell the Bush Administration that winning the peace would be harder than winning the war in Iraq. He was right. I heard he was pro-choice. However, he is not going to overturn the ban on partial birth abortion, though that was a only a half way ban anyway. Maybe he can be balanced with a staunch social conservative, like Judge Roy Moore. I want someone who will enforce the laws against illegal immigration.

I just don't see any real promise with the current names I've heard, McCain, Jeb Bush, Frist, Gulliani.

  8. Shees with Frist, Mcain, Maybe Barrack Obama should run, That would be great! I don't think any Republican could match his intellect, I just wonder if he is old enough. Maybe I could run as a liberal Christian, LOL. Hey I am 36......

  9. Jimmy Carter was and is to this day the most honest and sincere person I have ever seen. I wish the world had more leaders like him. If character ever mattered in a President, youd be hard pressed to trump him.

I couldn't agree with you more. One problem... and we learned this as a result of Carter's failed Presidency, nice guys make lousy Presidents! Unfortunate (and I MEAN that) unfortunate, but true.
