Your Papers, Please.....

(This post first ran in June, of 2005)

There is no way a free USA can continue to exist with the crowd we have in DC representing us!

No, they are not representing us! If they were, the Real ID Act would never have passed the Congress, nor been signed by the President.

Democrats and Republicans citizens alike, all across the landscape of America, are aghast at the loss of freedom as a result of this Real ID Act. The Constitution has just been shredded and discarded. It reminds me of the unconstitutional doings of the Lincoln administration in the 1860’s.

They, the Congress, knew they could never get us, the citizens of the US, to carry a National ID Card. So, they will force us to carry one, by creating a National Driver’s License. Freedom of movement has just been curtailed in the US. One of the most celebrated freedoms we had, we have no more, as a result of the Real ID Act.

The US Congress has just given a great victory to the terrorists! It is embarrassing to acknowledge that the representatives in Washington are more frightened of the terrorists than the American people are. It is equally astonishing that the Congress is more afraid of the terrorist than they are of the American people. What a bunch of wimps! What a bunch of testosterone challenged men … and women! They are an embarrassment to real Americans. (Did I say that already? Well, it bears saying again, anyway!)

Now. Let’s see which states have the courage to buck Congress and not implement this National ID Card. No many, if any, I would guess. The Congress set it up to punish states for not enacting it, by causing them to lose massive amounts of Federal dollars. Most state legislatures will run to sign on to this Congressional Blackmail for that is want it is! Plain and simple. But, hey, a Congress bent on gutting the Constitution is surely not above Blackmail…now, are they!

Where have the real Americans gone? Cowering beneath rocks? Begging the mountains to fall on them to hide them from the terrorists?

How will Congress get away with it? In the name of national security, that’s how. America is giving away her freedom for security! Soon we will have neither, security, nor freedom!

The whole lot in Congress deserves to be thrown out on their collective ears! They have sold us out!

When will the American people rise up, in righteous anger, and cleanse the halls of Congress of those lap dog Congressmen and Senators? When? Have we forgotten who we are? We’re Americans… remember? Our ancestors fought and died that we would live free. Not secure, mind you, but FREE.

With the passage of this Real ID Act, we have witnessed the Death of Freedom in this country. And I don’t hear the sound of mourning from the people.

So this is how a free America dies, huh? With a whimper. A groveling whimper, at that.

How long, oh Lord? How Long?

Until the candy a** Americans in the majority of our society decide that freedom is way more important than safety. Also when they realize that a government's goal is increase it's power and they use terror alerts and the media to spread this fear to the masses. I am only glad the right is in control, because if it was Democrats you guys would be screaming that it was a leftist attack on the contitution, but they seem the only one opposed to it.

Be carefull, we are at war, this is sedition. Don't threaten our leaders. You are only giving aid and comfort to our enemies. Relax go shopping we'll take care of it. At least gays can't marry and we'll soon quash reproductive rights for women. Hey maybe all the illegals will have to get one too. Collecting info on phone calls, credit card purchases, library activity, tracking internet activity, getting rid of private property rights (for citizens not corporations) was only the beginning. Hey we'll give you prayer in school too if we can forget the whole border thingy, and the Ten Commandments in courts if you can overlook the mess in Iraq. Keep playing ball and the last thing they'll take will be the ball. I was gainst the incremental destruction of our constitution since the Patriot Act, I was called a traitor.... Nice to see that you are joining my ranks Fellow American.

  3. I have had strong reservations about the Patriot Act since day one.

I know we have to make certain sacrifices when we're at war. I remember all too well the limitations on US citizens during the Second World War. I expect that to happen when we go to war. The thing that, frankly, scares me to death, is that AFTER the war, we have to make damn sure those limitations on our freedom are done away with. And "there's the rub"!

  5. Anyone who believes America will ever find lasting peace, is seriously deluding themselves!

We have no choice but to fight and fight for ever and ever... Amen! It is the price we pay for freedom.

Of course, one can obtain instant peace... through surrender and enslavement.

Someone once said the fastest way to end a war ... is to lose it!

  6. You said it Longstreet, since we are always at war we must always accept limitations on our freedoms. Which side of your mouth will you speak from next? Give up our freedoms to be at peace, go to war and accept limitations to those freedoms? How a bout live free never sacrificing the freedoms and when needed defend them but never bend them? Be ever wary Longstreet your quoted here, "I know we have to make certain sacrifices when we're at war." and here, "We have no choice but to fight and fight for ever and ever... Amen! It is the price we pay for freedom." So we are free, only to sacrifce those freedoms to go to war to defend those freedoms..... uh I don't follow you. And then you are upset here, "Now. Let’s see which states have the courage to buck Congress and not implement this National ID Card." When it is in your own power, burn the damn thing, I will. It's time to "Throw the tea in the harbor.", here again for you, your own words, "With the passage of this Real ID Act, we have witnessed the Death of Freedom in this country. And I don’t hear the sound of mourning from the people." I tell you, they have found this an acceptable limitation to freedom because we are at war. I will accept no limitaions because I have a spine of iron and my forefathers paid for those freedoms with their blood.
