The Crisis with Iran Rachets Up!

Iran has up-graded (?) its navy with a new locally made submarine. If reports are correct, that will add to the six Russian made SSK or SSI-Kilo subs Iran already has, supposedly in the Persian Gulf

Now, does anyone really believe those subs will be allowed to “live” much longer? When the balloon goes up over Iran those subs will be the first to die.
Even before the first bombs begin to fall.

Besides those things are death traps. They are so noisy you can stick your head out a window in downtown Manhattan and hear them when they crank one up in the Persian Gulf. You can rest assured our Navy has each one located and is tailing it at all times, 24 hours a day, and when the signal is given, those Iranian subs will be history. I mean, why do you think the Russkies sold them in the first place? 'Cause the US had them bracketed anywhere in the world. They are notoriously noisy.

The Persian Gulf is like a bathtub. Currently, US Navy Ships, and the ships of our allies, patrol those waters to ensure safe passage of the oil carriers, especially through the Straits of Hormuz. Hormuz could become a major choke point in any upcoming war with Iran and it is vital to keep it open. We will do that.

The delusions of the Iranians continue to deepen. They seem bent on locking horns with the US and Israel. It’s a war from which they can draw nothing but death and destruction. Yet they persist. Why do you suppose that is?

I have tried, in previous posts, to explain that the “nut in charge”, in Iran, really is nuts! He WANTS the chaos, the death, and destruction a war will bring his country. He believes he is the forerunner of the Islamic Messiah and it is his job to create the chaos necessary for the 12th Imam to appear.

Nuts enough for you? I’m not making this up, I couldn’t.

The point is, Ahmadinejad could not care less how much we threaten destruction to Iran. The more, the better, as he sees it.

In the meantime, the tiny country of Israel is not about to hunker down and allow themselves to be “wiped from the map” as he has proposed. They will fight back. In fact they will probably strike the first blows. And terrible blows they will be. Israel has one of the largest atomic arsenals in the world and they have let it be known that rather than allow themselves to be wiped out they will use that atomic arsenal to protect themselves. The Israeli Defense Forces rank right up there with the US military as world-class combat soldiers. They have the delivery means by air, land, sea, and under the sea, to deliver their atomic weapons. They are extremely well trained and they are always leaning forward. If anyone doubts their willingness to make a pre-emptive strike, just ask Saddam Hussein what happen to his nuclear reactor named “Osiris”. In a matter of seconds it was a smoking pile of rubble. The Israeli jets streaked in with the precision of a surgeon and it was over in seconds.

The difference with Iran is, one bombing mission won’t do it. It will take a sustained attack lasting several days, possible even weeks. Much of Iran’s nuclear facilities are underground and we must go after them, too. That may necessitate troops on the ground… specially trained troops to seek out those secret locations and designate them as targets, with lasers, so our aircraft can drop bunker busting bombs of unimaginable penetrating power and explosive power. The US has such weapons in it’s arsenal and will not hesitate to use them.

All of this could be avoided if we were dealing with reasonable, rational people. But we are not. You cannot reason with someone who will not! And that is where we find ourselves… once again. The US gave Hussein months to negotiate a settlement before US troops went in and overthrew his government and destroyed his military. He, too, would not be reasonable. To this day we can not fathom why he would allow such devastation and destruction on his people when it could have, so easily, been avoided.

So, today, we find ourselves at the threshold of another Middle Eastern country unable to negotiate a settlement to avoid war. It makes no sense to reasonable people. But the US must always be prepared to deal with the unreasonable among us.

And, we are.
